Just got mine too. I am looking forward to installing it. One question though. I thought somewhere in this thread you (Marshall) said that the carb came with a set of high altitude jets (since this carb is not ported for the HAC valve). My box did not contain the jets. Were they supposed to be there?

Its not a show stopper since I live in Boston, but it would be nice to have them.
 
Mine came by way of the Big Brown truck today. Looks great and I hope its the solution to some of my issues. Great job of packaging. Thanks Marshall.

High alt jets reside behind the carb bowl drain plugs. It's actually screwed into the back of the bolt.. Just don't mix them up.
 
Which insulators needed

Hey Guys, I have 2/69 FJ40 that the PO installed a Weber 32/36. I am converting to one of Marshall's carbs but I don't know which carb insulator I need - the 1bbl or 2 bbl one. Any ideas from anyone, and thanks in advance.
 
Got my carb, looks awesome thanks Marshall. Stupid question but what have people been doing if they don't have a bracketed wiring system to match the bracketed idle solenoid wire that comes with your carb. Simple as cutting the bracket off and splicing with the wiring that exists on the truck correct? Thought so but just wanted to make sure before I clipped mine.

Also what is the thread size fuel inlet receiver? I think I remember it being a British thread. Was gonna just run a temporary soft line until I got some stainless steel ones made up but was having a hard time finding 1/2" gas line to fit over the inlet....just gonna go ahead and bend some steel ones.

calixto- I was able to break off the plastic around the male spade and plug it right into the existing wiring. Took 1 minute and I didn't have to make a jumper harness.
 
Just sent payment for a 2f carb via PP! I'm currently running a webber and need some help with wiring the idle solenoid.

Hi, I'm wondering if you expect to have 2F carbs for an 60 (high altitude) in stock for a few more weeks? Waiting on tax return and plan to buy one towards the end of this month. If you're running low, I'll just send mine off to Jim for a rebuild, or wait patiently for the next batch. I love what I'm reading about these things!

I am out of stock. I won't have any in until the end of Feb or the 1st of March. Sorry. If you are planning on getting a carb and want to wait I suggest you pay now. Those that pay up front get theirs shipped first and also know they will get one. That being said there are quite a few people who wait until they are in and then pay. They usually get a carb.

I leave it up to you.
 
Weber was removed and replaced with the Trollhole on the 60.

It runs awesome.

Looking at junking the Webber. Never had a stock carb since I've owned it (26 years), is the cable linkage carb the same basic configuration as the mechanical linkage carb, ie 2 barrel? Just want to make sure it will work on the 77 40. If so I will get busy finding the stock insulator and air cleaner.

Do you advise I hit the deck now for your next shipment?

1981 FJ40, stock distributor as far as I know? I pm'd you about that single and only vacuum line coming off the back of your carb, down low facing the valve cover.

You said it went to the distributor. Took a pic, this thing had been cobbled on hard in the carb and vacuum line area. Looks as though I could hook it to the top of the cap? Or, on the side there is that disc, but with 2 vacuum line hook ups, it looks as though the PO looped those two together with a line?

Should I unhook that loop and hook it up to one of those? If yes, do you know where the other side of that disc would go or do I just cap it?

This rig prior to installing your carb yesterday was a bitch to start, and when it did you had to run it on over half choke and it idled at about 2,000 rpm. Now, even without that vacuum line on the carb hooked up it starts awesome, and does idle pretty nice....just seems like it could idle just a tad better. I am assuming that hooking up that line will do it.

I need you help on what to order??
I have a 1965 FJ40 w/the origanal f engine, but the p.o. had put a Rochester (model B) 1 barrel carb with manuel choke with no tag or numbers that I can find. I have had this FJ for 12 years & its time for a new carb. Do you have one that will work for me? All the Weber kits start @ year 67, and I would like to go away from the 1 barrel Rochester.
I am ready to order just let me know what to order & anything else I need to make it work.

Remove the line to the vac advance. Cap the outer one then use the inner one to go to the carb.

The vents on the cap. You can cap them or connect them back up.

One goes to a fitting on the firewall. (near where your glovebox is)

The other one goes to the air cleaner. You must have a one way valve on that hose where air will only flow from the cap to the air cleaner.

You have a one barrel manifold. I'd suggest sticking with a one barrel carb. I believe there are adapters that could make mine work. Might want to try call Mark at Marks Offroad and ask him if he has a carb that would work.
 
Intrested in a carb for my 76 with mechanical linkage. Couple of questions? I am currently running a weber carb. Do i need to source a 2bbl riser/heat shield? Also did I read correctly that this round of carbs will all be set up with fuel returns?

I replaced a weber 32/36 on my 69 40. All i needed was the 2bbl insulator and a model 60-1050 k&n filter since I didn't have the stock air box. The k&n was the only one I found that was not too tall to clear the hood. I did have to cut off the extra length on the bolts holding the windshield pad. After that it worked beautifully, I am very happy.
