I just installed a new carb from racer65. On the base of the carb facing the valve cover when istalled there is what looks like a small vacuum inlet. My engine is desmogged and I don't need it and it doesn't seem to do anything when I block it off.
Does anyone know what this is for and if I should block it off permanently. I have a dui distributor.

That vacuum port on the carb is typically where one would locate the vacuum line from a dizzy's vacuum advance port.
Thanks, so do you think it needs to be blocked off? It doesn't seem to show up as a leak when using my new vacuum gauge and closing it off with my finger.
And on another point about this installation, what have people done with their manual choke cable as far as supporting it going into it's place on the carb. Mine was setup to be used on my weber carb but there are no provisions on the new carb to mount it. I will probably have to make something to support it but just curious what others may have done.

absolutely block it.

at idle it shouldn't suck much. if you open your throttle to a steady 2000ish rpm's you should feel it suck or get a vac reading. unplugged it will lower the overall vacuum and cause a lean condition

I'm pretty sure that,
"A" holds the outer cable housing.
"B" is where the inner cable attaches with a barrel fitting. (or what ever it's called)

guessing your choke cable doesn't have a barrel end, I'd think a barrel nut would work.

I do have a barrel choke cable end on the end of the choke cable in the B place in the picture and I will have to check out the A place in the pic.

I have a choke cable end in the B spot but didn't see the A spot for the cable to be held, I'll check that out thanks.

U need as choke cable end like this :

To properly Mechanically Communicate with @Racer65 's Fuji Made in JAPAN Carburetor choke butterfly

- u can also install this on your 1977 and it will work well :

Are you sure your dizzy doesn’t have s vacuum advance module?

If so, as Rick said, you need to run a line from the carb port to the vacuum advance.

If not, block it.

DUI does make two types of distributors for our needs. Vacuum advance and mechanical advance. If you have the vacuum type it will have a large silver cone on the side with a port like this one. Good luck with the install and let e know if you ha e any questions. Ande

Mine has mechanical advance, I've had it for a couple of years and no vacuum line to it.
