Hello all

I need a new exhaust system (not inc manifold) on my bj74...

Can anyone recommend a exhaust specialist (in BC) who will do a good job on a bj74? And how much will it cost?

Thanks
GB

Can't tell you where to go for this, but I got a Magnaflow stainless to replace the stock muffler and 2.5" tailpipe, meineke did this for me for $150.00 from the muffler on back, I expect a full system would be about $400 + muffler and flex coupling. The muffler itself is about $175.00, universal diesel muffler in/out dia 4", overall length 27" SS #14771, Al #12771 from Keystone catalogue. you will need 4" to 2.5" reducers as most exhust shops can't bend anything more than 3". Crushers got himself a real nice 2.5" exhuast built for a 2LT engine, reduced the EGT by a fair bit.

Thanks

Do you think 6 - 700 bucks is out there for a new system? as quoted to me by Penticton minute mufler.

Including all parts? manifold on back? If they did it in 2.5" pipe I would certainly entertain it. I'm no expert though, a second quote never hurts. :)
Do you have a pyrometer presently?

the cost is about right, the price has climbed steadily this last year. 2 1/2" aluminized with free flowing muffler and resonator front to back and out behind the tire for $+/-600
cheers

the first aluminized exhaust i had installed 14 years ago was still in decent shape when i bought the truck back for parts last year. SS is nice but i seem to be fond of aluminized...
cheers

Thats also good to know about the aluminized exhaust ....

Got the fan kit today, and a good will free fan for spare...

Thanks

Good luck finding anyone willing to work with stainless (JC Whitney carries pipe, bends, and other SS chit). It work hardens easily, and must be bent hot. A stainless muffler and flex coupling (about $60.00) are not a bad idea though. A 3 or 4" coupling with 2.5" reducers would probably reduce the EGT dramatically, gives a large volume to quickly dump hot exhaust into.

I here you...

High flow and lower back presure... Thanks for the pointers....

Westbank "Budget brake & mufler" $450 including flex pipe.
Not a bad deal ah? :) :)

Thats what the man said...... 2.5 inch. 450 smakeroos
But we will see what the bill says after its done you know how that goes...

is this price for aluminized with a steel muffler or a tin muffler and regular piping?
the flex is about $80 by itself...
if this is the heavy stuff then that is a kickass price...
congrates

Thanks.... now got me thinking "don't know" I have to admit.

We will see

Thanks

I had a custom exhaust put on my Hilux Surf last summer at Minute Muffler in Penticton.

It was $550 for a 2.5" from the dump pipe back with flex pipe and a straight through muffler. Not really that much louder overall but you can sure hear the turbo whistle.

I wanted them to fashion a 3" dump pipe like I hear all the Aussies get done but, unfortunately, they didn't think they could pull it off.

Friends of mine say that Minute Muffler in Penticton do great work, which over all is as inportant as the price.
Have you been happy with there work?

Thanks
GB
