I've called my truck a van a few times without thinking about it after reading this thread.

Ha! Thats what the v in suv stands for.

So i spent the day making everything halfassed pretty. Forgot masking tape went out. Ran out of wire went out.... I did manage to get the wells seam sealed inside and out after grinding the spot welds. Gooped inside the 1/4 as well then saw the rear cross member all rusty and got side tracked so that got cleaned and painted. Aaaand the stock bumper mounts off of the frame looked flimsy so those got boxed in..

Should be good for body work next days off.

Like the slacker that i am i didnt measure the rear wheel well opening before cutting. Anyone feel like posting up what their stock wells measure? Mine are 40" now from the bottom of the rocker to the bottom of the 1/4.

Finished up the chop today with a coat of color matched hippo liner. Turned out ok. Painted the wheel wells black as well as inside the rear 1/4's.

Why din't you cut the rear 1/4's as well?

Rear bumper is already built around them and they're not rusty. . Also it would have been more work.

Lol. Had to make em match the 40...

Took the tape off today after another coat of liner. Also cut up the rear bumper a bit to match and gave it some paint.

Had couple buddies over in the garage last night so i put them to work. I had already assembled the interior after fluid filming inside the 1/4's so we threw the rear bumper back on. Made some 1/4" wall dom slugs to reattach the well hoops to the sliders.

I was impressed my bumper cuts actually line up nicely with the well chop. Not bad for modding the bumper in a different room and guesstimating.

So i put on my big boy pants and dug into my drip rails. Used a chisel and hammer to get the majority of the old sealer out then a pick for the rest. Wire wheeled, phosphoric acidized, wiped down, wire wheeled again then sanded. Threw on a good thick coat of epoxy primer now im just waiting for it to dry so i can seam seal the mofo.

Rusty spots werent as bad as i made them out to be in my head so that was cool.

I would never think of de-seaming an lc man. NEVER!

Got the seam sealer all gooped in the rails last night before calling it drinks time. Turned out decent from what i remember. Planning to mix up a small batch of the color match liner and throwing that at the rails for another level of protection then spraying everything else tan. Hopefully that gets knocked off the list so i can throw on that little cage thing and see what it looks like on there all painted and stuff.

D

Well its all bed lined and painted now. Just have some wet sanding to do and she should be decent. Pics next days off.

Put some crap back on and such and made mud flap mounts to keep the police off my back.

D, that looks awesome. The proof will be the picture you take, of that cage protecting the truck when it's leaned into a bank, and the cage isn't flexing into the body. I expect that pic this summer :D

Lol. Dont jinx me man.

Sweet build up man. I love the Exo and armor that you have built... Looks mean as h***.

I feel your pain in regards to resealing the drip rails, I have to fix a few rust spots on mine a while back. Very tedious spot to work on.

How does your rig feel off-road with the Shackle Reversal setup? I took mine off before my SOA conversion because I was scared of it being too top heavy. I am sure that the 1-tons and big meats help out quite a bit.
