Well,

After a few weeks of planning, I got the truck home tonight with the new interior, complete. I am really happy with the overall result. I bought the leather seat kits from AATLAS1X and we worked together to pick colors for the two-tone pattern. I installed heated seats from heatedseatkits.com. They are very nice units and well worth the money. The door panels and embroidery were done by a local shop. I couldn't be happier with the overall results. In addition to the leather and vinyl, I added 4 JL Audio speakers in the doors and a 4 channel Amp to drive the sound.

Wow, what a difference, overall.

Now, I have two issues that I need help with, see below for details.

Ok, so now for the issues. Issue 1 - window crank. I have one broken window crank. See pic. Where can I get a replacement? Does anyon have one for sale? Related, the new door panels are a little thicker and so the crank handles are tight. Are there any aftermarket replacements that would have more clearance?

Issue 2 - headrest. The non-locking headrest guide is cracked on both sides. I really need a set of these guides to finish off the interior. Can I buy brown guides from Toyota? Are there any sources for these parts? Does anyone have a set in good shape that they would sell?

post up in WTB,
snag from a parting out rig,
check your local pull n pay,
buy replacements from cruiserparts.net,
spend a lot more for clean ones from SOR,
or get OEM from Cruiserdan.

SNAZZY, how many bones did that set you back? I don't think either one of my rigs were ever that clean. Kudos!

Brown head rest support without lock is PN 71956-30020-56. MSRP is $37.

Brown window crank PN is 69260-12010-46. MSRP is $17.

The moldings for the head rest will be toytoa spec, meaning check out the local junk yards for crolla celica pickups etc and check: bet that part is on several different models and from a junker may just be a few dollars if you remove. Just my .02 worth same for door handles and window cranks find a color you like and check with your old crank for general fit and good to go!!!:)

Oh and wow that thing is looking so sweet, drop down to SC and I'll gladly drive it around to show it off for you anytime. LOL Doc

2mbb,

Any idea if they are still available? I will be calling the local dealer or CruiserDan on Monday!!

Sirenmoses - well the seat kits are advertised in the mechandise section, but with extra color matched vinyl, shipping, etc it was about $900. I spent $1000 on the stereo and the door panels, etc. were about $700.

These all compliment the dash that was reconditioned by Just Dashes about 6 months ago. Overall, the interior is looking great.

Now to start back in the engine compartment...

Thanks,
Dan

Clean Interior Job! I just did my 80 series seats

Great work Dan, I love the outcome! I just restitched all three rows in my 80 series. I did grey with black down the centers and black piping on all edges. It turned out great as well. Redoing an interior sure gives satisfaction to the driver for sure!!! Makes me think I should post up pics myself!!!

I thought it would be good to add a full view shot of the door panel.

That is a great job on the interior. That looks nice. I would try cdan or SOR like said above for those parts. You still running with the 2f? I forgot if you changed it but know you were talking about it.

The part numbers I gave above show as being available at 1sttoyotaparts.com. SOR has brown window cranks new, but only used headrest guides.

I should note, there are two brown colors listed for the window crank depending upon build date, dark brown and sepia brown. The part number I gave above is for sepia brown and is for 4/85 and later build dates. The part number for the dark brown does not show as being available at 1sttoyotaparts.com, but SOR shows them as being available. Call CDan...

NorcalFJ60,

Yeah, I stilll have the 2F. I am still toying with a few ideas: Built 2FE, 3FE or 1HDT. I really want to do the diesel, but the cost is really high!

WOW!!! That looks awesome. I really like the look of leather in the 6X series. Great job. How about putting a vortec in there.

jp_waltz,

I just can't bring myself to put a GM engine in my cruiser. I know that there are lot of people that have made the conversion and are really satisfied with the results, but it is just not my preference. I would prefer to have a diesel and an OEM engine. In addition to Toyotas, I also collect Dodge Power Wagons which makes the Vortec option more difficult...

Who knows what will wind up providing the motication for this truck in the future.

Dan

That looks Great! What steering wheel cover are you using? looks stock. Check out wagongears (Mud Vender) door seal, it will much improve the noise especially in the wind. Also what color did you use to paint the console looks like it matches pretty well to the dash.

Wyo,

Thanks for the tip. Previous owner added the steering wheel cover. It is a sewn cover, and functions pretty well. It is the Tuffy stock color. It is like a tan bonanza. There are at least 10 shades or tan/brown in the interior, but they call blend together pretty well.

I ordered a set of window cranks for Toyota, I got them and they are brown.................

I smell a trade for caps?

BTW, the leather looks great!

Understandable... Good luck finishing the project. Looks great

2mbb,

Cruiser Dan says that the headrest guides are out of stock... Any other ideas for NEW guides?

Also, I really need about 1/2" more gap between the door panels and the backside of the window crank. Does anyone know of a source for aftermarket handles? Do you think that I can bend the OEM handles to have more clearance? If yes, how hot do I need to get them? Boiling water? Localized flame heat? I have a some new handles on the way, and have one mangled original, so I will start testing with it, I guess.

Thanks,
Dan
