Ever look for Wifi and have to sit in the parking lot or quite close to the building offering it....if you can find it? During our Labrador tour this summer we had this issue and spent more time trying to find decent signals to get email.

So...I adapted a marine wifi repeater to Nemo. I simply hit a switch, wait 20-30 sec for it to initialize and then go into the admin screen on the phone and pickup any wi-fi that's line of site up to ten miles away....though the line of sight thing is rather important. :)

Admin screen, ridged antenna...kind of annoying for major offroad, Router, and booster.

Still need to tidy up and mount stronger but works great. Apparently I can add on a 3g/4G LTE booster as well...but don't see a need for the additional cost/complexity.

That could be convenient.

This is awesome! Can you do at least a mini how to with parts list? Or at least parts list? How much range are you actually seeing? At least on the opposite end of the parking lot from Starbucks?

is there a subscription or usage fee?

Nope, it's like sitting in starbucks and using the wifi.....except you are across the road at the far end of a parking lot 1/4 mile away.

My furthest reach so far was about 4 miles across a valley.

Could be wrong but no. Its basically a WIFI to WIFI hotspot VS a WIFI to 4G/3G hotspot. You need to be within distance of a WIFI signal VS cell signal.

Yup...that big omni antenna on the roof sniffs out weak signals, boosts them and feeds them to the router under my dash which then exmits to my devices. Thus needing to be around a wifi signal.....that being said...within 10 miles line of sight. Now if I had a Yagi on there maybe I could double that...lol

Don't you need the wifi passwords for these signals? I haven't been anywhere the wifi didn't at least have some kind of login requirements.

Lots of free wifi out there with no password requirements. I can think of a few off the top of my head.

Most Lowes hardware stores
Starbucks
Panera Bread
Most Burger King "restaurants"

What if you are in the area with "only" Secured networks? I just ordered the AP+

I believe it's just a signal amplifier. It's not going to get you into secured W-Fi networks in and of itself. I've heard that there are Chinese boxes for that on Alibaba and similar sites. ;)
