Need Help

Need some battery help. I am into installing a Luna dual battery system into my 40 and I cant get the 2nd battery under the hood. I am not a mechanic at all. I can change oil thats it. I want to get rid of all the air filter **** sitting on top of my engine, I am attaching some photos one of how it is now, another of where I want to put the yellow top, and then finally a third showing the air filter **** that I want to get rid of. My question is what do I need to do to get rid of all this stuff. What type of much smaller air filter can I buy? I hope the pics help bc I wont be able to speak intelligently about anything you might throw at me. Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance.

I have an 8' round filter set-up mounted on top of my stock carb. Would be exactly what you need. However, I need a stock housing. Want to trade? I'll pay my shipping to you, and you pay your shipping to me?

Well, I didn't see that you had an 80'. I need it to fit on a 78'. Don't think it will. If you can confirm that it will, I would still be open to trade.

Thanks, I have the battery tray (very similar to yours) my problem is all the other stuff in there that is in the way.

Where would I be able to buy one of the round overhead type filters that would fit on the stock carb?

Auto Zone, Mr Gasket universal filter housing. Make sure you get the little bock with the adapter rings. They are sold seperately.

Man-A Fre sells an adapter that runs a 4" x 8" weber filter if that will help. Also sells a foam filter for it.

Thanks for the advice and help everyone. Dbenke do you have a link for the MAF adapter I cant find it on their site. Also does anyone know the advantages to either the stock way on mine versus the switch that I am talking about? Thanks again.

I would think you will get let dirt and hotter air in the filter by leaving the stock unit but I may be wrong??

Sorry to steer you wrong, the foam filters came from MAF.
The filter and adapter came from JT Outfiters
Works well and is compact.
We replaced the original to install the P/S pump
