Well i slid spun ended up in a ditch. Thought these were made tuffer. Snaped shaft off the steering box. Thought that was worse of it except for fender headlight damage . Lools like i bent where the tierod hooks to the steering knuckle. Ive never had to change one . Sorta got a idea of how . But not real shore. where the tierod hooks up looks like ita bent upward. I got a line om a steering box for 60 bucks . Anyone got one cheaper. Anyone wana be my hero and help me fix this shyt. Every time i fix the truck disaster happens. monday i replaced my gastank second one in 18 months forst one started leaking from spot welds. Just cant get ahead. Got 3 kids 3 dogs wife moneys tight. And need it driving as soon as possible. spent tax money buying wife a van and still need to tag title it. I live near scotsville off 29 amd rt 6 in schuyler on waltons mountain. Would a case of beer or two bring one or more of u to come help me get it back together. Getting to point im so close to junk8ng the dam thing . Please of anyone can help let me no

If we can fix it we can go wheeling same day across from where i work in north garden

I'd love to help, but I'm a bit too far out of the way.
Sorry to hear you broke it.
BTW, Anything will break if you hit it the right way. They are still pretty tough trucks.

I hate to say it but if you thumped it hard enough to break the sector shaft on the steering box and bend the arm on the knuckle you might want to have the frame and A-arms checked on a frame rack. I can't see enough force to break the box traveling through there and not bending the frame or suspension. It would suck to get it all put back together and not be able to align it.

This sounds wise.

My only option is to put it together and hope ita good. Dont got the money to go get frame checkEd . The bracket the tierod conects to on the knuckle does that come off without haveing to take the whole knuckle asembly off. When i go out will take pics of what im talking about.

Also frame looks good only looks like the shaft snaped and bent where tie rod conects.

If I remember correctly there are two big bolts holding the steering arm on to the knuckle. The frame might look good but it doesn't take much to really mess up the alignment. I did a full size Chevy that had been t-boned years ago. It hit right on the drivers front wheel. All of the sheet metal lined up but the frame where the a-arms connected was pushed to the passenger side 3/4". You couldn't see it looking at the frame but if you stood behind the truck you could tell the tires didn't line up front to rear. Where I'm going with this is, with that much stress put on everything it's worthwhile to have it professionally checked there may be other damage you can't see. It would be really bad if other components failed while you had kids in the truck. We're it a trail rig no big deal. A daily driver is a different story.

I might be able to slide down there tomorrow afternoon to help assess the situation, but won't be able to wrench on it. are you gonna be around at 2:00? Got any pictures of the front of the truck? It's a 45 minute trek each way from my office in charlottesville, so I'd like to make sure that it the windshield time is worth it as I still need to get back to Harrisonburg by 4:30.

I work too

Well replaced steering box. Had bent center shaft between tierods. And the bracket the tierods conect to on driverside was tweaked to hell. Got the steering box for 60. And a conplete tierod setup from driverside to passenger side. Includeing idler arms and aftermarket stabalizer looks like a monroe for 60. Got it together driving straight steering wheels alittle off center but otherwise good to go. Now dud wants 25 for a white fender and 45 for a chrome grill
