My son has a 93 Hilux Surf at school in Savannah with a starting issue. I have been calling around to every mechanic I can find online and no one will look at it.....well it is at the Toyota dealership and they won't look at it. Any suggestions?

update....just called Merriam Automotive in Duluth. Sounds like the place to go but he said he can't take it right now, too busy

Peter Merriam would certainly be able to handle the issues with your son's Hilux. However, Savannah is on the South Carolina border and ~4 hr drive from Atlanta, so checking in with the SC chapters is a suggestion for consideration (Upstate Cruisers and Lowcountry Cruisers are the chapters that I am thinking). On the down side, Savannah is not immediately close to the main metro areas in SC (Charleston, Greenville or North Augusta) where Cruiser shops are located at. Additional help and research is probably merited.

( @Trollhole / @ClemsonCruiser ) Marshall / JP,
Would you be able to provide any suggestions to the request above?

Thanks

Thanks for the mention Larry. I’ll be honest I have limited Toyota diesel experience having only played around with a few 1HZs and 3Bs.

Isn’t there a shop in South Georgia that specials in Toyota diesels? Odd Iron maybe?

Yes. Odd Iron is in Thomasville which is almost in Florida and Alabama at the same time, so the distance from Savannah is also a challenge. I had not appreciated that this Hilux had a diesel engine, so to your point Rob at Odd Iron is a very knowledgeable/experienced mechanic with Toyota diesels in the region.

Appreciate the feedback and information. I will look into Odd Iron.
