I have E-lockers and the bearings that need to be press fit spin in the housing. I am looking for options. Someone said there is a Land Cruiser bone yard in eastern Iowa. I could use the contact.

Have you looked in Mud classifieds?

Just have something shipped in. You're not going to find anything decent in a salvage yard in the northern Midwest.

Thee guys do salvage trucks reasonably.

How about calling Slee & seeing if they have any housings sitting around?
IDK, but they used to have some extras around from time to time.

Also, rear housings are very easily modified to be "locked" - 2 notches in the gasket flange for the 3rd member is the only change.

All you need is to either buy the gasket to use as a template, or if DIY'ing just note the placement & notch it yourself.

I bought the gasket as I was outright converting, and from what I heard the notches really are more a convenience than necessity for placing the 3rd member.

Tons of trucks are parted in the classifieds here.A rear housing should be reasonable. I’ve seen complete ones sell for $400 and less.

If you have time to wait for one and don’t need it right away buy from a private party not one of the resellers making a living off parts. Just my .02

Fastenal for pallet ship rates.

Also, it is the front diff housing. I have heard about center punching the rings in or even welding them in but I am not sure. I am currently looking for the whole shooting match, gears, locker actuator and all. I figure by the time I purchase all the parts for a rebuild I might as well have just bought used.

Contact the folks at Classic Cruisers in Poncha Springs. They can assist you.

I'll own my mis-read.

The way this read to me was "toast RR housing" -since the FR axle housing isn't applicable to this (spindles, yes - housing, no).

I've no idea about replacement 3rd member carriers, but I'd personally investigate if a carrier is available since my e-locker conversion had a receipt for a NIB FR 3rd for ~$1500 in ~2004.
At the time when I bought the mostly-complete package via Ben Swain / Slee I was told there were very limited quantities of those 3rds as mini-truckers were inverting & using as a locker RR in 2wd trucks (not my wheelhouse, all I know).

You might check the classifieds here, I saw a locker 3rd NIB like mine was there some 3-4months ago.

::::Are you sure you have the right bearings? - that's a really odd issue AFAIK::::

Which bearings were spinning, and where? I've seen quite a few spin on the carrier, I haven't seen many spin in the housing.

If it is the carrier bearing journals, you can use a center punch to make a bunch of "dimples" all around the journal, which will let the new bearing press on tight again. Green loctite will help ensure no further spinning. (this is the same process @maxamillion2345 was describing, I'm sure)
