Ive got a Chevy 327 and the stock 3 Spd in my 72. I'm thinking of upgrading my engine and tranny. What is the hot ticket these days? I was thinking a Chevy 350 and an automatic tranny of some sort, preferably with overdrive. A buddy of mine has a late model Chevy LT1 for sale pretty cheap ($1000 bucks) What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Grab it as fast as you can, or tell me where to get it. The late model LT-1 probably has an ECU that will support a 4L60E tranny. PM me and I can give you the scoop on using this set-up.

No, we don't make an in-tank pump, but it would not be a big trick if using our digital sending unit because the digital sender has a rigid tube that extends down to bottom of tank (probe). One could easily attach a pump to the tube with a ss hose clamp. We do have out-of-tank pumps in 14, 45, and 65-75 psi values though.

Skip the LT1, and go for an LS series engine. More modern, and better all around(no POS Opti-Spark system which will fail). Plus you can get the 4.8L versions for cheap since everyone wants the 5.3/5.7/6.0's... The 4.8L will move the truck just fine. most were autos, so find a later 4L60e...

there are tons of external bosch pumps that will work just fine, and AN to metric thread adapters to simplify the plumbing.

X2. I agree.

also if you go injected you might think about a surge tank set up, but you will need 2 fuel pumps. one low pressure pusher pump and one hi pressure pump. that's how i did it. check these links Fuel swirl pot Surge Tank, Black Steel, Large Bottom Mount
