looks great....if it is as sturdy as mine it will NEVER make a noise no matter the conditions. I did have to readjust the locking mechanisms once after everything settled and worked itself out but no rattles or anything even on washboards....cant say that for any other rear bumper with swingout I have owned....that alone is worth the price.

Very nice Petrotk40! Looking good... I've got a 3 day weekend so I will be working on mine Sunday or Monday...

Mike forgot to send me the stainless bolts that hold the plastic bumpstop in place. Anyone know what size/thread they are?
Also, anyone with the skid plates; he forgot the Allen head bolts that hold the belly pan to the mid plate... Anyone know the size of them either?

Wish I could but we are slammed at work right now and I have a board meeting tonight which means I'm here until late tonight... Oh well... It will get done by the end of the weekend...

Hi J:
Looking forward to seeing pictures of what you post up after the install!

I used superlube for the bearings. Same stuff TC recommended for their bushings on the UCA's.

weld sleeves to bumper, tack spindles to sleeves...this is the 1.75" 1750 lb spindle, the ones that come with the BIO bumper are 1.25" 1250lb spindles.

how do my welds look?:D

Finished installing over the weekend!

Great quality of all components. I love the rotopax containers. Very slick design, and very versatile. I have two water, one gas, and one gas/oil, which suits my current needs. I can always switch out with other can options in the future if needed.

I did make a few changes to the standard equipment: I added a stud to the base of the highlift mount (3/8 x 1.25in) to help keep the jack in place. I also moved the license plate about 3 inches to the driver's side. Before I moved the plate, the swing arm would not open without jamming into the shackle I had on the recovery point.

I painted behind the side wings with Duplcolor bed liner (Same paint used on my rims). Hopefully this helps protect the panel since I don't plan to add any mudflaps.

I installed a backup camera directly above the hitch as well. It helps reduce the new blind spot created by the tire.

Did you get this worked out? I am not sure which bolts on the mid/belly plate you are missing. But, I can help if needed. Also, did you talk to Mike?

I used my tap set to verify the size/pitch and got the bolts at my local hardware store. Got them all bolted up on Sat also. They are 3/8, course thread. I got grade 8 hex heads.

I was thinking about painting behind there as well, I like that look, I might copy you.

I scratched up the clearcoat with some steel wool before I painted it, and dabbed it with a shop towel between coats. It matches the powdercoat color and texture almost perfectly.

Ok cool. I sure wish I had done it before I had the bumper on... I have a nice rust patch I discovers behind the left rear tire so I might take it do a body shop and have them fix it up.

I bought some textured rustoleum paint to touch up the bumper and I matches the PC very nicely.

^^ Funny I also decided to paint behind mine (Duplicolor bedliner)... This is one reason I didn't finish my install this weekend... We had rain and icy mushy mess all day Sat into Sunday and I wasn't able to start working on mine until late in the day yesterday... I should have things finished up tonight... Only problem so far is I broke the larger internal frame nuts that the factory hitch attached on both sides... I soaked them with lube multiple times before turning them and ended up having to cut the bolts with a angle grinder to get the hitch off... There's always something that kicks my ass a little when working on stuff like this...

I got all of the factory hitch bolts out, but I broke the weldnut off of the frame on the forward most nut (the one not used for the hitch) when installing the bumper. I now have all 4 bolts in on the PS, and only the 3 in on the DS. I should be OK though. If things shift around on me later, I plan to drill/tap a new bolt through the bumper and frame near the front if needed.

Hooray for West TX trucks, I got all bolts out no problem.

I couldn't get bolts in the rear most holes, they had some nice rust in there. I need to clean them out and put some bolts in there.

EDIT: What is the thread and pitch of the receiver hitch bolt holes? I want to get a tap and die set to clean those out and add the last two bolts.

That bumper does look good. Any rattles or spare tire wobbles over washboard roads? IMO that is the rear test for aftermarket bumpers...

update on this question... I spent about 4 hrs on washboard roads this weekend and ZERO rattles. It has a tiny bit of wobble but I'm not sure if any bumper/swingout has zero wobble. It makes no noise and is ridiculously sturdy. I also had to be winched out using a recovery point on there. I love it.

I can 2nd all this. I have had mine for almost a year now. It has taken hard hits in Moab and never flinched. In Socal you are going to run washboards. I was running washboards at close to 60mph this weekend and not a sound. Yes you will see some movement in your rear view mirror. But it is solid!!!!

I wanted to add something for those yet to install, make sure you put the right strut on it's respective arm. The 100lb goes on the tire, 50lb on ladder/can holder.

when it comes time to repair an accident, id much rather have the point of failure the spindle than the bumper surface.
