Walmart Everstart Maxx 1N (not 1S), good ratings, made by Johnson Controls, 900CCA, 3 year free replacement/prorate is something silly like 7 or 10 years in anytown USA 7 days a week open late... $59.95.

FYI--Unless I am missing something, this battery won't work in my 97...terminals are reversed and the battery leads in our trucks are very short.

I was psyched about the value and service for the $$ with the Maxx 1N, but don't know how you guys made it work. Off to Pep Boys for and Exide or Optima I guess. Thanks!

Mine worked fine...still does. Don't know what you're talking about and didn't notice the terminals being switched. Please explain.

When the battery is installed with it's front facing forward, the Walmart 1N has the negative on the left rear. If you turn it around to match the way our batteries mount (positive on the left rear of battery) then the terminals are too far forward for the short leads to reach. You didn't have that issue? Do you have more slack in your leads than I do, as apparently this battery is not sold in a Reverse configuration.

This is what they refer to in the thread above when they say the leads are reversed on the nornal Optima red top. Same thing here...my Walmart doesn't sell a Maxx level battery with the leads on the correct side...you have to drop to a 720 CA 600 CCA model (should still be enough juice for my mall cruiser and a steal at $35 :)

Just to make sure were on the same page. The 1N has two sets of terminals. Two on top and two in the front. The negative terminal on my Optima is on the right and the negative terminal on my Everstart is on the right. Did you go and see the battery? Guanantee mine is on the right though...I don't know what you're talking about.

Its not hard to get more free length on the positive cable. You need to seperate the wires so you can pass the little black box through the battery tray.

I bought a red Optima for my 60 and it worked great for 4.5 years. I sold the rig so I don't know the status now. I bought mine under the Interstate name. It has a longer warranty than the Optima. It is strange because the sticker says Interstate but it stamped Optima in the case.

Hell, I was just thinking that my '95 still has the OEM Panasonic battery in it. Man, I wish there was someplace to get those in the US....

Looks like I'll be going for a red-top when this one goes tits-up.
