does anyone know off hand what spec drive shaft I need after installing a mana fre 4" lift w/shackle reversal? the front shaft fully extended is a couple of inches too short and my spare rear shaft a couple too long fully compressed. Also should I have a rear cut down a front lengthened or a custom drive shaft?

i took my stock driveshaft off and brought it to a driveshaft place to have it lenghtened in calgary. wasnt anywhere close to cheap though. probally coulda sent it somewhere in the states and got it back cheaper than what i paid here.

I had the same problem and had a shop in SoCal do mine. Where are you located? I can find the name if you want.

just take the truck to the place, they'll fit it right.

Any driveshaft company can fix this for you. Be safe, and take your rig to the shop so they can take the needed measurements. That way if they screw up...
Most rigs will have different needed lengths.

I just had mine done. They machined off the female splined on the axle end, bored a hole in the yoke and instaled a 12" piece of 20 spline male shaft and welded it. Then built the rest from there. I have about 2" of spline showing at rest. With a shackle reversal you must get a long travel shaft.

If you will only use 4 wheel drive offroad, build your own square drive shaft for 2 bucks and be done with it. Thats what I did and have never turned back...

th square stock is a good idea, but I like the look of a real drive shaft. The longer slip yoke travel is something I hadn't considered. In this part of south FL there aren't any reliable driveline shops and they charge arms and legs for their poor work. Should I just use the forklift and measure every possible angle?

a forklift is your friend.

we have one at work i will be using once my SOA is finished to get my shock measurments and driveline lengths.

Do that! I was emphatic about needing lots of room for drop when I had my front driveline built (mine is SOA with shackle reversal). The guy acknowleged this and seemed to understand. Guess what? He didn't. It would separate at full drop. He rebuilt it for free, but measurements are your friends when doing this sort of thing.

to get full compression on the front, do I block the front wheels and lift the back up? Oh , forklifts and a poor enough economy that my boss is letting have shop space indefinitly are a huuuuge help. I am going to square stock my own rock sliders too soon enough.
