Uniden has some refurbished 520XL's for $29.99 and my shipping was $1.95, so $31.94 total! A great compact radio at a killer price. Their explanation of "like-new" product:

Note: This item is LIKE-NEW and carries a 90 day service warranty only.
`Like New Products` sold on the Uniden Online Store are usually retail store returns, damaged-box items, or units returned with missing components or accessories. They are inspected, re-tested and refurbished by Uniden and sold at a discounted price.

My radio or antenna crapped out on the last trip. Thanks for the motivation, I'll check it out tonight..

seriously, your old CB's transmission was becoming scratchy and sketchy...

Don't be hatin' on the free tech! :flipoff2: I learn all kinds of cool stuff on the return trip from runs. Then I promptly forget it all. :bang:

Me too, and forget to fix it till the next run comes along.:o

Hey, while we are talking CB, found the problem with mine: The 2 part screw out adjustment on my firestix had backed out. Any .02 for the perfect antenna (and keeping it tuned), for tree abuse?

Thinking of tune, and Locktite..:meh:

Must have gone downhill from the Turkey Creek run,:steer: I could hear you crystal clear, while Alvin couldn't.

80% of the time when you are called on the CB, you don't answer, but you hear the whole oil speech?

Also bought! Thanks for posting...

BTW, what's the ANL switch for ???

tried to buy last night but was too lazy to get up and get a CC and now they are sold out...you can get on the wait list however.

Automatic noise limiting, it's a background noise filter, helps with engine noise, static, etc.

Yep, they almost always have the 510XL, it's also a good unit, but missing a couple of features. The 520XL at the same price is a better deal and this is the first time that I have seen it in stock.

The "like-new" is no BS! Other than the "factory serviced" sticker on the back, there is no way to tell it's not new, not a speck of dust or scratch on it.
