Asked on the main 80 forum, thought I'd post here too in case anyone knows.

I'm looking through my copy of my fsm and I can't find were it says how to bench test the oil level sending unit.

After the head job, when I removed the oil level sensor and oil pan to have the pan steam cleaned and replaced gaskets while everything was apart. I think I may have bumped it or did something while it was out to make it stop working.

For about three days after the job was done, I had no issues. Now after the 40 second delay when I crank it the light comes on.

Good oil Pressure and full of oil.

Seems like the sensor has gone bad, I'd just like to test it before I start throwing parts at it.

Thanks

I don't have a FSM procedure for it, but I do have a brand new OEM level sensor that's going into a truck this weekend. If you'd like me to measure resistance or something as a comparison, I'd be happy to!

Yes! That would be awesome.

~.96 ohms across the pins with the float "down" and ~.94 ohms when in the up position.

Thanks @GLTHFJ60 for the follow up. Wife kept me busy with weekend activities so I haven't tested mine yet. I went ahead and ordered a used one to try. I guess there's not much variance with an on off switch like there is with a gauge.

Well after a trip to Ashville a few weeks ago my air stopped about two hours into the trip. Intermediate issues have followed. Turns out my expansion valve was giving me issues. Overhauled the ac system today. Expansion Valve, Dryer, compressor, and all new o rings.

I'm headed to Hilton Head tomorrow with the family for the week so yesterday I decided to avoid having the family in the hot car for several hours of the air decided to quit at the worst time.

It was pretty straight forward and there is several great write ups here on mud of people that have done it before. Everything took me about 3 hours.

I replaced the compressor since I had the system open so I have a OEM Denso compressor that still works that I will donate to somebody that needs one.

My parents are flying in to watch my daughter while me and my wife go on a much needed trip this weekend. It's the first time in over two years we're going somewhere as "Austin and Brit" and not "mom and dad". I'm leaving the LX for my parents to drive while they are here so I got underneath for an inspection and took care of a few things on my maintenance list today.

- Rotated my tires. Trying to squeeze a few more miles to get me through till after Christmas. The plan is to add OME 2.5 med kit with tires in January.

- Solved my rattling heat shield issue on my down pipe before my cats, with a simple universal radiator hose clamp. Can't believe I put this off for so long.

- Replaced the front pads. Fronts were almost gone. Rear is still in good shape.

- Noticed I may have a leaky driverside axle seal. It's been about two years since I serviced my front axle. Driver side lower trunion Bolts have the oily residue that is typically from a failed inner axle seal. I'm going to go ahead and order the kit and plan on rebuilding both axle sides again.

I have used a couple Trail Tamer kits, very complete with quality parts.

I'm headed for a camping trip with my brother this weekend. So the rear drawer storage fun begins. Growing up we alway kept the camping equipment in plastic bins and 20 years later it's still that way. I went to his house yesterday to lay everything out and figure out how to pack it. After a little bit my internal wheels started turning on how i could benefit from some drawers. We ended up stripping the back and taking measurements.

I picked up a edgestar frige a few months ago from @SeanLX, so that will be worked into the design. I have some 36" sliders on order. Due the the price of the sliders I'm going to do one big drawer. Back in college I used to build custom speaker boxes for most of Tuscaloosa, so we'll see if I retained any of my wood working skills.

I sent the drawing over to a local wood shop this morning and had them cut it out.

Used the Carpet to trace out the rear on a piece of 1/2 birch plywood i had left over from another project. Measured and lined up holes of the 3rd row seat brackets. Used 4 M10 x2" bolts to mount it in the back. This will be what I mount everything to.

Finished up the assembly right about dark. Having it pre cut really saved a lot of time and errors avoided. Ended up taking about an hour to assemble it.

This should be about where it comes out to.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do for the drawer face yet. I have a few different Ideas on how i want the front to look. I may play some more in Solid Works and see what I come up with.

If anybody wants the drawings let me know and I'll send it to you.

NICE! Watching this carefully as well. Thanks for posting.

If the sliders work out for you, will you share where you got them, please? thanks.

Spent some time tonight on the drawers. Notched the base so everything fits in place perfect. Played around with the idea of mounting the fridge sliders on the bottom. I got these 24" from lowes for $19. I figured for that price it give them a shot. I knew they wouldn't be strong enough mounted horizontal but I had to see for my self.

Yes I'll find out exactly. It was a company in California. The sliders are 36", rated at 250lbs, and cost $63 shipped.

Glad to see my old fridge is still working.

Easily My favorite mod so far. It's paid for it self with the money I've saved buying drinks and snacks. I'm convinced every parent needs one. I've always got milk with me.

Great work! I've got quite a collection of drawer slides, and have never used em.
