so not to long back i upgraded my sound system, amp, speakers, and sub, they bypassed the OEM amp in order to keep my Nav all happy. So today it is raining like a bitch outside and i see water seeping in through my sunroof. I figured my drains were plugged and i'll clean them out. I also noticed the floorboards were wet on the PS and it seemed water was dripping on my left foot while driving as well.

my Nav works like normal but when i hit the climate button it says "check connection to Air Conditioner" and it also doesn't display my outside temp either. i get it home and search for my stinking air compressor so i can blow out the drain holes. finally found it and cleaned it all out. I also took my neg battery cable off for 15min so the ECU would reset as well.

all finished. turn my truck on and it works like it should. then i start to go though the buttons and then go back to climate and it does it again.

what do you think the most likely culprit is, the sound system or the water? or is it something else? i had the front glass changed about 5 months ago as well....

I had a similar problem in the last month but a different problem. Water from clogged sunroof drains getting on the passenger floor board during rains. It effected my stereo by leaving it on when the ignition was cut off and running my battery down. I ended up disconnecting my battery and letting the LC sit for a few days in nice weather with some windows cracked for ventilation. When I hooked it back up all worked fine.
Hope that helps, it helped that I had another vehicle. However yours doesn't sound like its running the battery down so you may be able to I've it some time.

You replaced the stereo and everything has worked OK up until now...You've had really hard rain... My thought would be water getting into the electrical, especially since you said you had water in PS floor board and water dripping on your foot while driving. I'd see if I could get that windshield replacement looked at. It doesn't take much water to cause a little mischief to electrical if it isn't supposed to get wet such as under the dash, regardless of vehicle.

I am getting this same message, along with the water temp gauge and most of the dash lights not working. The ECT PWR light and the other three small gauges work fine. The gear selection indicator goes on and off intermittently.

It did rain last night and the passenger floorboard is wet from a known windshield leak. I am going to pull the carpet up and inspect.

Anyone else with this issue? Does it seem to be related to a specific connection or ecu? Or just random?

I’m having this exact same problem now, was there resolution for you? But I don’t have or see water inside my car. Plus intermittent cruise control

Oh and to complicate things I’m on the road from Memphis to Reno, having no heat sucks. If anyone can recommend a place to stop by to take a look, would greatly appreciate the help.

As the day progressed, I later found that when the key is in acc position, everything is back to normal. But when I start the car, the problem comes back, but now it is intermittent. Cruise control actually works, just the indication does not work. Vegas is my next major stop if anyone can point me to a person/shop that can repair/diagnose.

I am having the same issue. Display is dark. No outside temp display. Same message on the display. Engine temp gauge is not working. Cruise control indication not working. But, I don’t have a wet floor on the pax side. Don’t know what to do.

I started having the same issues in Februar/March. Then it went completely fine by itself for a couple of months but it has been back since last week.
Gear indicator/water temp comes and goes, Cruise indicator is not working, but cruise itself is fine, "Check the connection" and no outside temp indicator and the fuel consumption screen is not working.
My drains are fine, but I have an intermittent leak on the driver side windshield that I will be fixing shortly...

Solution is to find and fix your water leak into the passenger compartment, and then dry out both footwell areas in front. If the electrics aren't corroded and you don't have any other outstanding electrical issues related to this, the problem will almost always disappear.

Thanks for your response. I pulled the kick panels off and pulled the carpet back. I’ve never seen any water/wetness in the floor and I’m not showing any signs of previous water. Checked front sunroof drains and they aren’t clogged. Car hasn’t been rained on in over a week. Any other ideas?

I need some help with this as well. Problem started yesterday as I reversed out my drive way radio turned off and check system appeared on the touch screen. I restarted the truck and check connection to Air Conditioner appeared. Problems I'm having today is climate control won't appear, audio off appears, and outside temp is off. Truck hasn't been rained on in over a week though I do have a leak at passenger rear grab handle and sunroof. I recently disconnected the rear dvd player could it be related? Any help would be appreciated.

no it would't be related.
that message appears when the stereo isn't connected to the data lines, labeled as tx- and +, mostly next to each other in all the harnesses and blue and pink colored. When that message appears anything on the ac amplifier will cease functioning also.
There's no magic fix but cleaning off all the fuses or replacing them is a good start.

One shortcut that may interest someone. If you check, clean or replace all fuses, ensure that everything is dry engine box, and lower inside corner boxes. It is then possible to bridge the pink and blue tx lines in the radio harness, forgot which one. unplug the radio and connect a 68ohm half or quarter watt resistor between the pink and blue lines in the female connector.
If you hvac starts working and temp display and whatever else that would tell you the problem is in the stereo.

in a pinch this is what I would do if I couldn't stand the heat or the cold. This is in the manual, it's not some voo doo trick.

like those guys said, it's more likely there's water getting in first, fuses second, then wriring, then components.
There is the dark screen pin 60 I think also, but not really applicable to an AC check connecting note.

The screen going dark or looking funny is a separate issue.

edit, in the lc it's the r38 connector, blue and pink. position 9 and 10.

I also have this issue after flooding the car a week or so ago (inch or so of water in both front foot wells). Lifted the carpet, pulled all connectors apart and sprayed with contact cleaner but the issues remains. I'd say almost everyone experiencing this issue has some kind of water leak.
