Was replacing all of the 3mm tubing on my 1985 FJ60... Upon completion i noticed that I had one piece left over.... It consists of two tubes about 3 inches or so each connected by a small "T" adapter... I know that the tubes are the correct length (same length as the old ones) as I remember sizing them and cutting them.... Can anyone help with the proper location for this piece??? Help!!!

I don't think that "T" connector is factory - PO or someone installed for a vac source? Anyway, don't have one on my 85.

Do you have the Emissions FSM? pdf copy in my sig line.

There is a factory T connector above the PCV valve, it is metal. The one pictured is plastic and melted. Definitely not original.

I do have the FSM.. That's what was driving me crazy.... I couldn't find it anywhere in the manual... I have found many screwy things while tearing everything down and rebuilding. This is probably just another...... Right now the vacuum tubing has been reassembled according to the FSM... It is a California car.. Hopefully it's not CA specific.... I think I'll ignore it for now.....

Thanks

I found a T like that in the center console after I bought my truck. It wasn't there when I test drove it, but was there after the seller smogged it and I went to pick it up. I agree with the above post that it is not factory and was prob used by someone to tie in a vac gauge, or maybe introduce air into the system in an attempt to fudge the smog numbers. I think the latter is what mine was because when I tried to smog it 2 years later it failed miserably and led me to go though and get it all in order. And there was definitely no place for the T.

Just surfed on this. I'm new to the Forum and the links in your sig are fantastic. Thanks!

There are two tee's associated with the emissions systems. One is part of the PCV system as mentions above, the other is associated with the VCV that vents the distributor cap. The former (PCV) Tee is metal. The latter connects larger diameter tubing in the "through" connections and smaller diameter tubing on the branch connection.

I tend to agree that this one is not OEM.
