This is all the best of what restoration is about. The art of working, with a little bit of background music, remember every step of removal and learning to admit some mistakes. I had to do a lot of things over and over because you can not install some parts without installing first other parts. First in, last out.

Did you buy new door cards or were those the original ones?

These are new ones from a drawn pattern of the old ones. A pattern drawn on Manila paper was used to locate the exact positions of all the holes where the clips will be inserted. This was transferred to the board. Hole punches were used to make clean and neat holes. This is easier said than done. But in my younger days, I used to watch upholsterers do it and learned the technique.

What material did you use? I think there may be a market for these.

This the same material used in the original. We call this "Lawanit" as in "Laminate". They are sold in different thickness. 1/4" & 1/8", 4' x 8' per sheet. This is used because it absorbs water or humidity less. I can send you a close up pics of the material.

The seats sere taken to the upfolstery shop. I supplied the materials costing US$35.00 while the upholsterer is asking for US$65.00. The material used for the new cover is the same material used for the door and side panels. Hope this will be done by next week.

Is that an OEM cloth? And what's the circle knob on the side of the headrest?
