Are you going to add any type of weatherstriping to your hatches/doors.

One tip, buy that 3M clear bra stuff for the front end of every surface of your trailer, the front surfaces get abused by rocks and stuff getting thrown up fron the tow rid.

Dude, this looks amazing! The fiberglass/paint looks amazing. Great job!

Don't know how I missed your build thread WaveBreaker but just read through all your posts and what a cool trailer build!

Funny...big controversy over on EP about wood vs. metal for trailers...I think your build pretty much puts that argument to bed ;).

Any idea what your rolling weight is for the trailer?

Been awhile since i posted to this. The trailer after road testing is to light for the YJ springs i used, it acted like a jitter bug hopping down the road even with tires softened. So i did some research on suspension alternatives and came across Timbren axle-less system.

My only concerns were that i wanted an option to mount electric brakes if needed,I don't think i will but wanted the option. Timbren offers a 2000# and a 3500# plus others but these 2 are in the range of what most would use. The 2000# does not use brakes the 3500# does. So we spoke with timbren and asked if they could mod a 2000# to accept brakes, They said yes and sent it. Basically it is a 2000# suspension with a 3500# spindle assembly. Bigger spindle equals better in my books. Hopefully with a 2000# loaded rating it will ride better. Time will tell.

I spent about 4 hours over the course of days and changed out the suspension. Went in easy minimal stress. They have a provision built into the housing to add a piece of square stock to join the 2 pieces together this tucks up tight to the under carriage. This cross member should help with side loading of larger tires. The height difference, lowered the trailer overall to ground level but i gained about 3 inches more of clearance under the trailer (no axle)
Way cleaner under the trailer should be of benefit on trails.

Here's a few shots of it installed will take more when tires are back on.

They look really awesome...I'll be really interested to see how they work, and how you like them...good luck with them.

subscribed - I've wanted to see the Timbrens in the real world!

Nice trailer - a thing of beauty.

Did the Wrangler springs have shocks?

Shocks it did have yes. with a load in it it was fine. 16 gallons of water and all the gear i would want to take.but with no water and no food stuff it became to light for the suspension as it was setup to work properly.

fine job

Could you give us a range of cost on those Timbren axles? How have you liked them so far?

Cheers!

The axle i bought was a custom one. being a 2000# suspension with a 3500# spindle that being said they still only charged me for a 2000# system. The cost to me for the system was 400.00.

I have only taken the trailer for a short street run after the install ,it in that case handled better than the spring system.

Time and business have kept me from taking it out on the trails as of yet.

Cheers
