you sure that if it gets bent in some it won't interfere with anything?

cuz any light touch on a rock and it'll fold in pretty easily from what I can tell...

any news on your skid plate build??

I was heading out to the garage today to catch up on some of it. Works been a strange place (April Fool's day is really interesting in the public safety sector!) But I need to get focussed again on it.
And just for that, I ordered my Slee rear bumper yesterday to motivate myself to get back on the Cruiser!
I'm adding a bracket to each side on the front sides up to the frame, and adding a spacer block and bolting it to another crossmember.

I'll try to post up some more pictures later....

And I'll try to do a thread on bumper installation when that arrives.

Camp, did you try annealing the aluminum before you bent it? Also, is the aluminum too thick to use an electric shear or nibbler for your pattern cutting?

I've only burned up three blades getting half of it cut out.

Next time, try to blow air while cutting, cooling the blade and the alu (with a not too small air compressor).
wear eyesglasses of course, but the life of the blade will be increase and the cut speed either

No, I was at a freinds shop and limited time...
And no also on the nibbler, that would have been easy.

It was the twisting that really did in the blades, and I did use oil to cool it also.
And always, ALWAYS use safety glasses! Years ago I spent an hour in the ER with 1000cc's of saline dripping across my eye after a chemical exposure.
And my 60 gallon IR never runs out.

And I should get back on the Cruiser tomorrow because my motivation called. I drove over to Sacramento today and picked it up at the freight depot....
Thanks to all the guys at Slee Offroad to help motivate me!
The rear bumper is calling me from the pallet...

Well, after seeing Christo's work on the bumper, and HIS skid plates...

I feel so, .... so, .... thin in places.
:whoops:

So I guess I need to beef things up and start some new reinforcements around the edges.
How does 3/8 T3036 work for you guys?

I'm still working on it. I'm slow, but I do get things done slowly.
