I've had some drawer slides I picked up for $8 and a Kreg jig I got off amazon sitting in my garage for over a year, well today I finally put them to use. I use one of my third row seats quite often so I wanted a single drawer that doubled as a fridge slide. I still need to add some tie downs and a coat or paint or carpet but thought I would post the progress I made today. Oh and I'm in no way a carpenter but I'm happy with how it's looks so far.

Lookin pretty good so far! I just got an idea crazy enough that it could work... A drawer system with a beer tap built in. Call me crazy but it just might work...

If I were building my own drawer system, I'd be damned not to have a beer tap built in somewhere on it! It's also getting way late (3AM) and I could just be going crazy right now

Made some more progress -

Glued on black automotive carpet from Wal-Mart, added more support on the back of the tray and added an old kitchen cabinet handle I had laying around. I also stopped by Cruiser Outfitters and picked up an ARB fridge tie down kit that needs to be installed. Other than that just need some type of latch for the drawer, will stop by Home Depot tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

They make locking slides but I have no plans to change mine, I was trying to do this on a small budget. I might add a simple latch.
I know of the locking slides but I too went with the budget 100 pound slides. I will upgrade to the 500 pound locking slides later depending how the initial build turns out. I am trying to find a spring loaded pin like is used on some spare tire swing outs to hold them in the open position.

Ceasar don't bother me, I didn't take his comment as negative.

So far the drawer has worked great as a place to store the dogs essentials, leashes, tennis balls, water bowls...

Still working on a latch, will probably just get a hook and eye latch to keep it simple and cheap..

Looks really good. I like the way you did the screw holes for screwing the pieces together.

Nice build! Love the top latch, but feel the lower gate hook is a bit less secure. Also doesn't seem to fit with such a nice storage system.

I agree about the lower latch, still looking for a better option but for now it will do...maybe some black paint to hide it a little...I may end up just getting one locking slide.

Good looking drawer/fridge slide. Kreg jigs are great and certainly make projects like this much nicer.

Question: what was the strategy with the duplex drawer slides? If these are heavy-duty slides they're 3/4". So you have 3/4" ply, you've lost 5 x .75 = 3.75" x 2 = 7.5" of usable space per side, or 15" of your vehicle width just to material. Even with a simple box carcass and drawer you lose 3 x .75 = 2.25 x 2 = 4.5" per drawer or 9" total. IMO, this is one of the most compelling reasons to go to a metal drawer system; space optimization.
