Yeah you are one lucky dude... More pictures and you should keep the 75!

My mom is going to be saying holy s*** next week when an hzj73, hzj75, hzj77 and a bj70 are parked outside of the house.

That'll make a good pic;)

here, we find it with cars with AC.
the owners drive around with the AC on and the windows up. the cold air reacts with the heat from the sun at the metal division.
the metal sweats
rust occures

...

I thought aircon took moisture out of the air. I often use it to demist the windows as it works quicker than with heat alone.

I had a good look around it today and took some more pics. Its a bit scruffy in the rear but most of it is adhesive from peeeled off stickers,so that should come off easy enough.

The Kaymar tyre carrier, bumper, towbar thingy.Must have cost a s*** load. Its nice to have but after you have entered the rear doors 4 or 5 times it gets a little tiresome having to open and close those hatches. I think a wife would want it gone.

The platform in the back is not pretty but it works and didnt cost the previous owners thousands like some of that shelving costs.
I also got all those bits and pieces with .The brake pads are DB1200 ,meaning they are for 75 series rear discs;)
Im not sure what the spare spring shackle and bushes are for,I know it has new ones on the front.
I also got 3 OEM fuel filters with it.
Mine is missing the prefilter that become standard in 95,the bracket and bolts are there so I can only assume its been removed:confused:
I will find another one and I also plan on fitting one of these aussie made Water Watch trap and alarm systems that doesnt affect the fuel flow

The spare seat that come with it.

The rear headache maker. The owner before the last owner installed this. All that wood for 2 speakers and 2 fans,I think its going in the bin.
You can also see that rear lap shopulder belt. Apparently when the other owner had it ,he did the Canning Stock Route(1900klm 4wd track) and took along another passenger and he had another seat installed for her.

the shelving looks functional, that is what is important, eh?

it isn't the moisture in the air from the AC that causes the gutter rust, it is the cold steel on the inside and the hot steel on the outside that creates the moisture at the gutter level. the sheet metal "sweats" at roof level.
I am trying to remember the actual vehicle that we were discussing that day, some Chev model that was very bad for rusting at the gutters here and that was the conclusion that came up.

those big heavy tires, great for the outback, but for city life and a Sheila would probably get old fast.

The dent in the drivers door. Im hoping this will largely pop out but I think it will still need some panel and paint.

i could see myself in that vehicle, no problem.

LOL its a 1HZ, its a slug,you would hate it.

The front headache rack, this is also going in the bin. I think anyones head would get slammed into this in a frontal collision and I have already hit my head on it climbing in and out:mad:.

Dash is clean and tidy.CB works, radio works but CD player doesnt. But its ok I have a brand new JVC one somewhere that was supposed to be installed in the 73 series before I sold it.
Thats the non operative fuel gauge. Not sure if its the sender or the gauge.
The little black gizmo on the fuel pod is the switch for the Narva spot lights9working)

Another interior pic showing the gregorys manual with all the maintenance records on the inside cover for the last 100000klms.
Looks lke its due for a timing belt and injector chamgeover.
All oils, fluids and coolants have been done regularly;)

The space behind the seat. I dont know what you would put there, beer fridge maybe for those long hot trips in the goldfields :D
It has some vinyl flooring over the original floor cover. It also seems this was an 11 seater when it was sold new in Karratha in 96.
It has a build date of 12/95.
The big orange wedge shaped thing on the right is the handbrake for steep hills:D

The 75/78/79 series experts would notice something unusual about the passenger seat;)

Ill do some engine pics ,dent repair pics and underneath pics tom.

If you get sic of your rear spare holder and want to sell it ,my old ladie is looking for one for her new troopy.

If the sub fuel gauge is the faulty part I have one somewhere in my old man's shed I can dig out and you can have.

That passenger seat is from a Ute :D

Your mum drives a troopy? Is she going to join the forum?

Bingo, although an explanation should have been included:hhmm:.
Its from a ute because it has the vinyl back, troopys have a metal plate on them to protet them from loads moving in the rear

Yea the hzj 80 still running fine but has well over 500000 so its retired to the shed to collect dust, they were looking for a rv hdj 78 with low ks but seems majority of private troopy owners are holding on to em,so they settled for a newer airbag model gxl vdj 78.

I think even the 40s back seats had protection plates bar the utes ?

Those HDJ78/79 are real hard to find at the right price, most of them have 250k + on the clock. Was considering one myself, but it would be cheaper to source a 1HDT or something .

The 47 series had metal plated seats.Pointless in a ute.

I saw a tractor trailer the other day ( doing duty as a log truck ) that had a 1/4" plate of steel on the headache rack. I really wonder what that 1/4" plate was going to do to protect that driver from 20+ tons of logs.
Hopefully the Troopy seat metal plate is more functional.:)
