New user here. Been reading ih8 for the last year or two. I live in Chile but am originally from Venezuela. After wheeling the hell out of a double cab Hilux, i decided to upgrade. My choices were very limited, as you cant buy 80s or 70s in Chile like in other SoAm countries. As much as i wanted a solid axle i wasnt willing to go for an XJ or Wrangler (which were the only solid axle options and are very popular here), so I just bought this 97 Land Cruiser Prado 90 series, 3RZ-FE powered with 151.000 KM, in mint condition.

Plans for the future? 265 MTs, or maybe 285s if I can get my hands on some OME springs, maybe a few years later I'll go for a SAS.

best regards!

Welcome Dude .. you can find great people here ..

That is a warn ..? or a factory toy winch ..?

Hey David,

It's a Warn, but the remote is Toyota. (the remote bag says Toyota electric winch) I havent tested the winch by the way. In Chile most 2 door 4x4s are sold with winches for some tax deduction reason, as they legally become "work" vehicles with the winch.

Nice ,thats one we didnt get in oz. They did a good job of hiding the winch:D

Actually it's a pretty neat plastic cover with TOYOTA written on it, and it's attached to the bumper with 2 nylon straps.

sweet little prado :)

Time for woody to install the 90 series/Prado section ;p

Thanks for the feedback guys!

That was going to be my next question, posted in Chi-Chat 'cuz I didnt know whether I should post in the Truck Tech forum (with my IFS cousins) or in the Diesel Tech where most of the international users post.

Hi Tepui,

thats a nice 90!

Frame and Drivetrain is the base for the new FJ Cruiser, so maybe woody should add the 90´s there.

Welcome and nice rig, I wish we got those here in the states. BTW I think you'll find the most info pertaining to your cruiser in the diesel section, the truck section seems to focus primarily on the mini trucks/hilux and the Tacomas.

Please don't, the 90 is almost a decent cruiser whereas the FJ cruiser is a yuppiemobile POS

SAS is definitely a plan for the future. I just can`t see myself cutting anything right now. It's just too pristine.

Its drivetrain is exactly a US 3rd Gen 4runner, and the body looks a lot like a "small" 100-Series. So technically, I will probably find more info in the Tacoma/4runner forums.

2.7 3RZ-FE
8 inch rear diff, 7.5 inch front diff
Rear Coil Spring Suspension
Front IFS with coilovers (shared with the Taco as well)

I like it ;)

90´s are very capable rigs, the high altitude record was made with a 90, so ....a 90 with a FJ body and interior...i love these rubbermats and floorholes.....why not?

Denis, youre coming around for the buschtaxi meeting this year?
