I have been really busy trying to get the new house ready for opening in late Feb. One of the things I am supposed to already have done, is clean out my new shed/shop and move all my tools over so I can be ready for working on the new house.

Snow, cold weather, nervous about the shed's security, etc. have all been slowing me down, but mostly just other crap.

Anyhoo, spent some time tonight working on it.

Although it is small, it has a pretty good amount of room for just storing tools and stuff - no cars :)

My goal is to use a much stuff as I can find in the house, in the shed, and around town as salvage stuff to reinforce, weatherproof and seal up the shed. Trying to keep costs down :)

Looks smaller than it is:

Inside after the first round of cleaning (I know this is horrible, but you should have seen it before):

Interesting finds list:

  • Grenade Ammo Box
  • Bowling Ball
  • Some weird weights and iron

To Do List:

  • Exterior is rotten in the back. Going to first reinforce from the inside with 3/4" treated plywood covered in some plastic I found inside. I will then dig out the back where dirt and wood rot from crap left behind have rotted it out. Then will replace some exterior siding.
  • Using scrap wood and old kitchen cabinets to basically put up a plywood inside wall and put some insulation in between as I go. May use some spray foam.
  • Move my benches over with tool boxes
  • Set up new storage hardware inside.

I thought some of you would find this interesting :)

Found a LOT of old oils, spark plugs, etc.

This was a sealed gallon of antifreeze.

I wonder how long it takes a sealed gallon of antifreeze to dehydrate down to about 4 ounces?

You go boy! Looks pretty big to me. :)
Out buildings are my favorite, can not have enough.

The shop continues to be a source of frustration. I am thinking about salvaging what I can and then doing something crazy.

I am getting basically a wet floor with each mid to large rain. The siding is old and a mess

As it stands now:

Does that meet historical code? :D

Keep digging. Or i really like some small modern container structures as well but you got a nice essence of space there as is too.

We don't have any historic code . . . just a historic district that does not enforce any rules, etc. Each home or building can do as it wishes.

Think of something more like this:

Containers would be a low ceiling for a truck shop. Would love to have a container shed, but the control tower said the pattern is full.

Sub'd! Will be interested to see what you come up with. A buddy sent me this one a while back.

Yea - would still only be a shed. As the $$ add up, it makes less sense to make another shed vs re-hab this one and look for a second property for our "retirement home" with a real garage per our original plans.

Yea love that. Another idea was a "tree house" above the shed as another room- - was quickly shot down by logic and the fact that we don't want more rooms :)

That's from the movie Tron: Legacy. Awesome house.

Well hell, guess I've never seen it from the beginning.... Every time I catch it he's already in the machine

Those containers boxes, if you are inside and get a heavy rain is like being inside a drum. Will need good sound insulation if you go with them.
