It's not clean, it's not shiny
but it's mine
84,000kms
I'm the third owner. The second owner bought it from his brother when the cruiser was 1 yr. old
It's been in a barn for most of the last 10 yrs according to the PO.
floor mats are flawless, seat belts and in excellent shape
frame is solid (so far), minimal rust on sheet metal
It hadn't been started for 10 yrs.
bahahaha, I drove it already!. Dan and I worked on it today
new rad, a hose, changed the carb, fresh gas, temp cap and wires.
New ignition stuff will be in on Tuesday
Tank will be flushed and hydraulics will be checked
Something funky with the tires though, I can follow my tracks of black rubber every where I drove it, even in a straight line. It looks like I did a posi burnout for a few blocks. I don't think cracked original tires are the way to go anyways!

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful

I forgot about the Mad Max front bumper hiding the 8274 winch
crap!, I think I used up all of my good luck for the month

damn you

definately looks like a restorable unit. what are your plans for it?
good find.
cheers

I'm not sure just what I'm going to do in the long run with this.
It needs work like every other cruiser less then $15,000.
Driving it is much easier when the window is rolled down.
Damn, my 1979 FJ45 was a lot more spacious, I guess the additional 60lbs. of STEVEN takes up a bit more space then several years ago.
I couldn't drive this with large tires, there is no room for my left arm to move much when using stock seats.
I've driven a customers FJ45 with an aftermarket bucket seat centered behind the wheel, manual steering, large tires and it was fine and quite comfy.
I guess I'll be doing the seats pretty quick

Looks very nice to me, much better than most I have seen.

I would make my next seat base in two pieces like the factory andlower the drivers side.

Leg clearance under the steering wheel for ease of getting in and out is a little tight.

Nice find Steve! Send it back home: It really needs to live in Abby :)

Steve, i highly doubt you are as big around as me and i find driving a stock 45 fine... the room in there seems pretty close to that of my 75, power steering makes a huge difference...
cheers

I've already have a set of seats like Rob has and the PS stuff is on the shelf along with an AC unit. I doubt I'll use the whole AC set up. I will most likely use the york pump/bracket parts for compressed air. I might even just go with all chev PS stuff while I'm at it. It's all going to revolve around work and free time.
I drove my 1979 FJ45 for several months and clutching was the only thing that I found that bugged me. New seats will cure that!
I was the previous owner of Gord Pritchards 1979 FJ45 back when it was not as pretty.

Nice bracket Rob
I'll be doing a two part system pretty close to yours.

I'll need to flush the carb out, it's all plugged up but very tight
The fuel smell has contaminated my whole shop and office.
yummmmm! dead gas!
Now I just need to deal with the filth inside the cab.

congrats - looks like a nice find.

mmmmm,
camping trips will never be the same, deep fry and BBQ smell all day long on the trail
I just got the where abouts of another FJ45 for cheap, bahahahahah, my wife will kill me if I bring home another FJ45. Dan might get this one if he brings me donuts every morning for the next month.

My 1965 SWB FJ45 might be going up for sale, still thinking about and have been for a few months now

You lucky SOB. You have so many horseshoes falling out your arse we can follow them from Van to your house. She's a real beaut Clark!!!! WELL DONE

My luck seems to suck at lottery tickets but it's not too bad when it comes to rusty Cruisers
If we get time to change the intake/exhaust manifold gasket, the FJ45 just might make it to the meeting

Two things
-the trailer is gone and it was a headache since I bought it
-Ford F150 for sale, 1985, 142,000kms, 302 V8, 4 speed auto, long box, extra cab, good mileage, cruise control, power windows and locks, tow package, trailer package, recent tires, comfy spacious clean interior $1800.00 CDN cash or trade for certified chq of equal amount

I'm with Gar. Rip that gasser out of there and drop in a real motor...maybe a 1HZ (right Rob?). :D

*Edit: Steve, what's wrong with the F150? I have a relative loking for a work truck that's inexpensive and reliable. If he hasn't found one already, I'll see if he's interested in yours. The price certainly is right. Thanks.
