Well after an exhausted search I found what I was looking for. It is a 1994 80 LC with 130,000. The only thing I wish it had was lockers but it is so hard to find one that is clean and not beat to snot. Here is the recent stuff the owner had done, new EGR modulator and vacuum ports cleaned by Toyota. New windshield installed on 3/1/03, new value cover gasket, knuckles redone on 1/16/03 when it had 122,007 on it. AC was total gone through and re-charged. New brakes all the way, new tires all done at 129,000. The thing was driven by his wife, no kids, never been off-road. The owner used to have a bunch of hot rods so he knows how to service and taker care of his vehicles. Never been in an accident and they are the original owners. I even had the original window sticker from when they bought it, total with upgrades was 41,422.00. Take a look at the picts.

Very cool. Congrats. Too bad about the color :flipoff2: - running joke.

So it now has 134 instead of 12?

Can you get paperwork about the windshield in case a leak does develop?

Knuckles redone sounds vague, can you get teh details so you know for later about the seals etc?

Seriously, congrats on the purchse - the above are just somethings to find out if you can so you know.

Nice truck. Paint it.

BTW, nice dolphin in your avatar.

I am lost on the "134 now 12"? I have the paperwork on the windshield and knuckles. Here is the breakdown of what was installed on the front end. Install knuckle re-seal kit, 8 hours 520.00, re-seal kit gasket kit 201.00. Looks like the front pinion seal was also replaced.

R134 vs. R12. The refridgerant used in the AC. Was it converted to R134? Or was is recharged with R12?

As for the color -- just know that all the best cruisers got painted white...the others were painted with some sort of dark color to cover the flaws :D

Sharks have a vertical tailfin. Dolphins have a horizontal one. That fin is horizontal.

Figures the receipt has a large water stain on it. However I do see 134a Freon (that is how it is spelled) and a whole list of other items but they are blurred. Looks like it was converted to 134.

I would never had believed it if not for the link. From the second shot it is obvious it is a dolphin but from the first picture the tail look vertical and the nose and other fins look like the shape of a shark. My bad :slap:.

Great now I have a f*%cking dolphin as my avaitor. Yea, I might as well put a rainbow as my avaitor. :princess:

ROTFLMAO! Outside the lockers, sounds like we've got the exact same truck, right down to similar mileage. Obviously a man with great taste in trucks and color.

You don't say where in SoCal?

Welcome anyway :flipoff2:

A 94 would have come stock with R134. The switch was sometime in 93-- May I think. My 93 has R134 stock

Jared

'94 is R134 from the get-go. The change-over from R12 to R134 took place in May 93 with frame # 38947.

I am going to plead ignorance on the AC thing. All I know is it blows fricking cold. I am in Newport Beach Brentbba, I chimed in on your thread about your new lift and airbags and introduced myself.

Update: I just looked, mine has the hairdryer behind the bumper, factory origional.

By the way out of curiosity which one is better to have and how do you know which one you got? I have a 93 bought in the summer where do i look to see which one i got also where is the frame # located on the door?? just curious cause i'm thinking about having my ac recharged and wondering which one to use

evsweat1,

Whether your 80 was R12 or R134 you will want to recharge it with R134. R134 is a replacement for R12 which cost much less. You will need to refit your A/C system to be able to handle it because it is thinner and leaks out of R12 systems. Even with a refit and recharge, you will still spend less than a full charge on R12.

The frame number is the back half of the vin. IE JT3DJ81W??xxxxxxx. Yes it's on the driver's door. The production date is also there. A quick visual clue in an 80 is the location of the receiver-dryer. If it is located behind the bumper on the LH side of the truck it is an original R134 system. If it is mounted under the hood, next to the battery, it is an original R12 system.

R12 is more efficent and cools better. It is also VERY expensive due to the crazy taxes on it. It supposedly damages the ozone layer and as a result it can fetch as much as 50 bucks a pound or more. R134 is the "environmentally friendly" replacement. R12 systems can be converted to R134 but it is more involved than simply changing refrigerants. I would not convert a system unless you had a failure and needed to go in and change a major component.
