Can it be welded?

Looked at the picture again. I'd weld it.

Yeah, that’s the route I’m gonna go. There are bigger problems at the moment. I just popped the valve cover to replace the gasket, and found nothing but sadness. There was less than 12 inches of gasket to be found, and all the grime and filth you’d expect to find.

Well, here we are.

Well, that sucks. How was the compression?

I have no clue.

Good gravy that looks nasty in there.

I plan it!

I've never heard them called damage multiplier, but that sums up their effectiveness. They are as good as gone.

Nice looking rig, congratulations!
I just put the original factory one on mine; I like how it looks and I don't plan on running into anything... at least not until I decide to replace it with an aftermarket.

I'm looking at their variable geometry caster bushings, and Delta's rear panhard bracket. Seems like a cost effective start to correcting the geometry.

After seeing those condition under the valve cover gaskets maybe the timeline on the 4BT can be brought to the left.

I've not seen anything this bad in person. I went from searching for an oil leak to looking for the sale sign after my stomach unknotted itself. The motor is definitely on borrowed time. I don't know what I'm gonna do yet. I traded all the swapping mess for this cruiser. I don't have the garage space, and I'm no welder either. Plus, I don't think a swap would make more sense on an FJ. An FZJ would be the better candidate, so I'm not necessarily gung-ho on swapping. Last time I talked to Classic Cruisers, they had a running 3FE take out with good compression. That might be my best bet.

If you need any welding I can help. Now that I don't do it all the time anymore I like welding again.

Jebus...I think my BBQ grill is in better condition.

Well if you're shopping for an engine shop I might give Empire a try, I stopped their today looking for some SBC rocker nuts and ended not paying a thing for the parts. Friendly and likes Cruisers!
