I patched my gas tank and it started leaking again after a few days. Considering sending out for weld repair. Does anyone know if we can get a new one? What is the best fix for this issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

i have a few used ones still left if you cant find a new one. i have sold several of them. not sure why they leak but i would suspect bad canister.

New ones are (or were recently) available. Not cheap. IIRC almost $600 smart shopper price. Theres a few threads on the matter. One by me one by landcruisingmy93. Im not sold on it being a charcoal canister issue though it may be a contributor. I had a failure while i had my tank vented to inner fender instead.

When you patched the tank was it holed by damage or rusted through? If rusted through then getting to decent metal to weld too can be a pain and may just start leaking again in a year or two, might be better off finding a good solid tank from the breakers?

regards

Dave

Mine was due to excess pressure from my charcoal canister not venting the pressure from my gas tank. I disconnected the tank line and vented it to the atmosphere. Solved the gas smell but my tank will still leak now if I top it off.
