H Folks,

I frequent the 100 tech forum and shared an interesting adventure on my move from OR to ABQ: 01 LX snap ring failure and field fix

@Mauser took notice (and perhaps pity) and suggested I join the local "club". Here i am!

Me: looking for work in area as my background is high power lasers. Staying with a friend and her BF who are both laser jocks and work at Kirtland. I have a doctorate and have co-authored a textbook in nonlinear optics, so I think I can hold my own and find appropriate work in this area

Rig: 01 LX that just plain works ... except those darn snap rings!

I still have a FL plate and am in the NE section of town. Flag me down for an intro if you see me!

Welcome!! Good luck on the job search, I am no help there.

Welcome!!!
Do you have any experience or familiarity with pulse power???

Welcome!
Any chance you could throw a pdf copy of that book my way? I'm a physics undergrad and would love to read about some cool optics.

I cut my teeth in the field on a q-switched, mode-locked Nd:YAG laser that pumped an OPG/OPA that was 20-25 ps. The lab next door had a similar system but was a ML Ti:S and 10s of fs pulsewidth. Both were utter bastards of machines to keep running properly.

As far as a pdf copy of the book, the only version I have is locked to my Adobe account. It was part of the contract with the publisher.

Lol.. I think I have heard of a YAG laser (I am not a physicist, just a dangerous artist that likes science). However, I do have a buddy at Z machine, I can ask if they have a need. If you're interested send me a resume to pass along. nighberj@gmail.com (Justin)

Welcome to the Land of Enchantment!

Welçome Robert. Glad you found us.

Welcome to the Burque and time to change your location under your avatar ;)

Welcome to burque! Don’t leave anything you wanna keep in your rig and lock it at all times. That said, enjoy our amazing state.
Pics of your rig?

Good advice, but sad. If I don't leave my keys in the ignition when I am home I'll lose them all the time.

Ya but you have a really long driveway and a lotta coyotes to scatter evidence

Read your travel story. You’re a problem solver that’s awesome! We gotta go wheeling some time, my junk’s full of problems ... right, @Chompers ??

She's just a well broken in 01 LX set up for towing and now in need of a DS front axle and hub flange, parking brake shoes and adjustment, and probably brake MC replacement.

Happy to be here. I grew up in Tucson as a kid so hi and dry is not new to me

Oh, I've never been wheeling. I got the rig when I was in Denver and wanted a dog. No way I was gonna put a dog in my 08 M5 6mt (now sold).

However, I'd love to go wheeling (as a passenger at first)

Send me your contact info so we can connect off the forum. I work at Sandia and I know some folks involved in lasers and optics. Oh, and welcome to NM.

I read Robert's C-clip story and now I'm in the know. I had no idea this was a "thing" with the Hundies. WTF did Toyota do wrong as it seems to be an epidemic!

Just keep a c-clip and hub flange in the toolbox along with the axle you should already have. No big deal.

My wife's best friend has a 2007 LX470. About a year ago her husband called me wondering if I could help him pull the transmission because the torque converter was bad. It was a stripped flange and axle.

I wanted a spare hub flange when upull had the 99 in their yard. Pulled the grease cap on it and the axle was pushed in the hub. I figure they thought the trans was bad and sold it to the junkyard.

Well, welcome to our slice of MUD. Like others I went and read your story over in the 100/470 forum. Question, while this is an interesting contraption, and it solved your problem, could a large socket have also been used with the bolt through the middle?
