Hey everyone my name is Erik I'm new to toyotas and especially to the land cruiser I bought mine from a good friend and I would have to say I'm in love with it. So far I turned the torsions up and put spacers in the rear <to fit tires> removed steps ditched the spare installed stereo <factory was broken> installed doug thorley headers weather tech mats hid's 20" rockstars with 33" toyo at's <ya I know most people on here hate "big" rims but I love them!> next up are mag high flow cats mag muffler and everything else to go with it. I have some 35" toyo mt's waiting to go on the 20's as soon as the rest of the suspension is done.

I am wondering what to do suspension wise. I will not ever do any serious off roading <moab stuff> but I do plan on it being off road a lot I have other toys for serious playing lol. I do plan on towing a small toy hauler from time to time so I am wondering what springs to put in the rear? I sag the stock springs with my single axle flat bed that I haul 2 yfz 450's on and don't want to deal with the sag hauling more weight. I also might haul my drag truck to and from the track with it too.
will it actually tow a truck on a trailer ok? toy hauler?
also what else can I do to add more hp?
are my tires going to rub? <35/12.5/20>
who sells gears? what should I get?
where can I find a super charger?
if I add a 1" body lift is that going to mess with the headers like I've heard?
also what about the bumpers?

thanks in advance for any info from everyone I really appreciate it

also I searched most questions and didn't really find the answers I was looking for

Welcome to the club. They are great vehicles. Yes, you will probably take a few shots for those rims, but that's the beauty of this. Its your vehicle and you get to do whatever you want to it. As long as you don't lower it, I think most will accept you.
There are lots of great threads on here to research for your questions and I'm sure folks will chime in as well regarding your specific questions. I'm running stock, so I'm no expert, but I've been able to educate myself by just reading several of the threads. 35s are tough, definitely going to need lift, maybe spacers, maybe body lift, maybe trim some fender wells. There are lots of lifts out there, but most will point you towards Old Man Emu. Depending on how much weight you are going to add to vehicle determines medium or heavy springs. The sag in the rear may just be from worn out shocks. You may be able to get away with just new shocks, but not with 35s. Don't have any experience with towing, but lots of folks on here tow their boats, FJs, and other toys. Gears; I believe most would say 4:88 and might as well install Air Locker while you are in there. Bumpers; lots of options: Slee and BIOR are two of the more popular on here. I'm sure others will have lots of opinions; the joys of a forum.

Welcome aboard and folks are going to want to see photos. Without photos, it never happen.

. . . 20" rockstars = need pics . . .

Then, after the flamin' dies down, someone will answer your other questions.

<j/k>

Let's see what ya got!

Congrats on your purchase. I started with a 62, then bought an 80 series and added a 100 not too long ago. Once you go LC, nothing else is the same!

I'd ditch the plans to go to 35's. Too expensive and too many mods. I run BFG AT 305s on stock LX 18'' wheels (its a 34'' tire) and have almost zero issues with a 1.5 Heavy OME lift. Add some air bags in the rear if towing the truck weighs you down, doubt the two YZs will.

Ideally I would regear to 4:56 or 4:88s, but I still have plenty of power and have no problem passing, with hills, or cruising at 90mph+. I plan on going FI in a year or two and I think the stock gearing with the BFGs would be a perfect combo. Not sure about superchargers (I'm sure TRD makes one) but definitely check out Slee Offroads turbo setup. Get a spare tire too! A 34'' will fit in the stock location.

I think a 0.5'' body lift would be perfect on top of the OME lift. Just enough to get rid of clearance issues without too much hacking of your fenders, yet no issues with headers, bumpers, etc.

Oh...do you still have your OEM cats?? I might be needing a DS one!

yes I do have the cats they are still on the cruiser
I plan on probably doing some sort of tubular bumper front and rear and I'm not scared to trim some fender if thats what it takes my 35/12.5/20 toyo mt's are going on this thing ha ha. why doesn't anyone make more lift for these things? how bout ditching the torsions and running a coil over setup up front and does anyone build long travel pre runner style stuff for the front end? solid axle swap kit? sorry for all the questions lol

everyone on here seems way cool and its nice to see so many people from utah

ps I would never lower a 4x4 <except my drag truck lol> ha ha thanks for the info on body lift I'm going to order the lift some fox 2.0's slee diff drop and body lift in a couple days and try to have it done by the 8th I hope

also does someone sell a specific air bag kit or are people just using a universal kit???

thanks again everyone

Your rig is bitchen

I'll be the first to jump on someone with large rims- not because the rims, really, but if they run a very low profile tire which can be dangerous to those around you. But yours look like they have plenty of sidewall for on-road use. Your rig looks pretty dang awesome!

I think you'll find that lifting more will cause more headache than it's worth, unless you have money to burn...

Garth ya I've spent some time looking at slee and some time on the phone too. thanks for the info though

1407driver and packetstormin thank you I appreciate it

BadReligion hey my 35/12.5/20 tires are barely bigger than what you are running both in height and width. do you think mine will really rub? I plan on doing the ome 2.5" kit <most likely heavy> with pucks and slee diff drop and fox 2.0's and the .5 body lift.

I was also on the phone with sts turbo today.....boosty boosty :steer:

Mine are within .25'' of the UCA up front, sounds like you have a skinny 35" tire and aftermarket wheels (different BS) so you might be ok there. You said you werent afraid to trim so I think you'll be ok in the fender area too, especially with the body lift.
Whos STS? Might have to check them out.

I like the Rock Stars because they are the closest aftermarket wheel I've seen (though a spoke short) to the TRD 6-spokers I've always liked.

I've always thought I'd like the Rock Stars better without the center caps. Any chance you would remove the DS caps and post a picture? I realize there are stems to remove to make it clean, but just a pic sans caps would show me if the picture in my mind is on-target.

Either way, that's a good looking 100.

Definitely sounds like you're looking for a SAS. Check out Slee's Blueberry 100 series, they did a SAS on that thing and it's my personal favorite hundy that I've seen thus far. I don't remember all the specifics but I think they did something like 4" of lift on it and fit 37"s under there. If you've got the money, there's a solution for everything.
