Hey guys. Finally wanted to add a few pics of the rig i buiit now that I'm finally done. Done....err....never done, I would say.....
Had to slap the last few things together in a panic, since I wanted to drive to central america to surf from Victoria BC and have to be back to get married in Aug.
This is the labour of my love. 2nd love.....I guess the rig is my mistress, as many of you can relate.
Look forward to hearing your feedback.

A few teaser pics....I'll add more later of the specific details.

That is soooooo not reversible, lol! Looks great!

Must....have.......DETAILS...!!!! Love it!

Thanks guys. Yeah - I built the thing from scratch. It's fibreglass with aluminum reinforcement frame in the pop-top and a stiffening Aluminum frame in the cut-out of the vehicle, which mounts to the vertical body pillars.
I made the pattern, the molds and then this first prototype. Not perfect but I'm pretty happy with the first go. It's only 2.5inches increase in overall vehicle height, has bed inside that also is on gas springs to fold up out of the way when you're "living" on the inside. Here's a few more pics.....

Still lots of "finishing touches" to do. Cushions, some storage, LED lights on the interior, etc. I'll take some more pics of the inside to give it a better indicator of what its like.
Lemme know what you want to see and I'll post when I get in wifi zones on my trip. Thx IMG_1289 copy.webp

I'll be driving the whole coast of oregon and california. Prob spending some time near santa cruz. If anyone could recommend a good welder to help me make my rear bumper along the way - lemme know. Thx kindly.

Looks awesome..! Sounds like a great trip... My HdJ81 is basically a surf travel vehicle too but not as kitted as your is..

Where are you planning to put your boards? Is there space next to the compartment on top?

Nice rig. Subscribed

If you make it all the way down to San Diego, Sean Houston makes a heck of a bumper. He has a thread in the classifieds.

nicenesst and made in bc, that a boy , man. hope to see you either market or detail the build. i have been thinking of doing a westy style for a while now, but might hold out to follow you for a bit. have fun and play safe .

Nice dude! Sounds like an awesome trip... I spend a lot of time in Baja/Central America/Mexico, if you need any info let me know. Are you going to drive down Baja and take ferry over to Mazatlan or going straight down through Mainland Mex? (I'd recommend going through Baja, its been pretty empty the last few years... )

Post some pics of the trip when you start !
