The correct steering wheel, which is a big improvement over the one it came to you with, yes?

Keep the updates coming, please.
Yes, huge improvement over the one the PO had on. Found an OEM one in really good shape, and Mike put in a new horn pin when he installed it.
I found this padded cover for it as well, which is a nice comfortable upgrade from the hard plastic. But the best part is that it is a bluish gray color that matches the interior gray color really well. Poor quality picture kind of shows it.

Just read your thread from the beginning. Attention to detail is fantastic. Looks great. You mentioned that you live on a small island, are there many opportunities to go wheelin?
Thanks! Yes, it is a small island, but there are some 4x4 only areas up in the mountains that have some great trails. Some very challenging and remote (relatively speaking). There are a couple beautiful coastal trails as well. Since our 60 has been down for the last year, we take our 80 on trail and remote beach runs. Here's a few photos of some great trails, some well known and some a bit more secluded.

@Aloha Jen - I get it, beauty is subjective - but Alcoas are big $$ forged AL wheels, it's really a nice wheel & ties the bumpers & emblems. Esp since you have 'em I'd sooner use the money smarter, def not buy new steelies & pay freight.
I hear you, and the current aluminum ones on there are fine. But the build plan was always to go back to the OEM wheels. Hoping to find the old chrome ones here locally.

What brand roof rack is on your 80?

@Aloha Jen Could you post a pic of that shifter knob? Looks cool. BTW Could I send you guys my 60 and finish it for me? Awesome build on the 60 IMO I will steal a few of your ideas but I'm not telling which one.:lol::lol:

Just noticed that the rear defrost switch is on the left of the steering wheel, did you move it?

Prinsu roof rack, he's a one man shop out of Utah. Its aluminum, super light, and very strong....it even supports me when I use it as an elevated viewing platform!

@Aloha Jen Could you post a pic of that shifter knob?
Sure. Eventually I will get an OEM 5 speed knob on there....but for now, it's nice to have a little humor in there. People always laugh when they see it.

Nope, I have a diesel non US 60, so I believe it comes from the factory like that. I have a clock where yours is probably located on the dash.

Thanks @Aloha Jen, that is a cool set up with the clock being where the FJ switches should be. Does the clock work? What's up with the red button?

Yes, the clock works, as well as the stop watch and alarm.

The red button under the steering wheel, is a manual glow plug controller, sometimes called a Wilson switch.

Did you modify the switch panel to mount the clock in that position, or is the panel one I'm not familiar with? I have the same clock, and mine mounts in the cubby space in the upper right corner of panel. I thought that was stock clock location and mine uses stock hardware.

Again, nice work!

Could I ask where you got your radio antenna, what does it fit or what make it is? Thanks Bill

Sure, I got it at autozone and was just some generic brand. Just brought in the old one and found the one that was same overall size and shape. It came with multiple bases, fits well, does its job and was relatively inexpensive.

No modification of the switch panel, so must be one you are not familiar with. Mine is a non US HJ60, so I'm assuming that's probably why it's different.

Got a few more things finished up. Put in some new shocks (if that's what they are called?) on the rear upper hatch. So nice to have strong solid ones on there! Purchased ones that were reccomended on a thread somewhere on the 60 section forum.

Also, our 60 did not have a tailgate cover when we got it. But it did have a tailgate strip of carpet that matched the rest of the interior. So Mike traced and cut out the shape of it on some 1/2" plywood and did the same with some 1/2 carpet padding. And taped some insulation to the back to go between the metal and the cover. I found some durable gray vinyl at a fabric store that was a close match to the existing interior vinyl. I covered and stapled it on the backside nice and tight, and clipped it back in.

It's comfortable to sit on and I like it just fine without the carpet attached. But it looks a little cleaner imo with it on, so if I can figure out a good way to attach it, I probably will.

It will be a nice comfortable seat to relax on and watch the ocean and sunsets like this one from the other night!

Wow, you guys have done an outstanding job on your 60! Hope to get mine there someday!

Gonna be in Oahu for a couple months for work, so planning to ship my 60 from Big Island to there to keep working on it during my off time, so when the time comes, can I get some Aloha on good places to get parts and cool places to take the 60?
Mahalo!

Wow... I wanna live there :crybaby:

Fantastic work and great pix! Just watch out for the Blue Lava

I think I will be alright since that volcano is in Indonesia. But it's beautiful, I may need to take a trip out to Java to see it myself!

Happy to help out Shad! When are you coming out and where will you be working on Oahu? PM me or my husband Mike @pescado to let us know. Mike has amassed a pretty good amount of tools to work on cruisers, so let me know if you need anything. We will fill you in on all the good trails for your 60!
