My GX suddenly has this scary issue, HELP. (1 Viewer)

It won't start smoothly, something seem to be jammed/not initiating.

I just changed the fuel pump (a recall)
and the battery, so they are not the issue,
it existed before these changes even.

Was that kind of like a stutter for the starter to engage when you pushed the button?

Sounds like a starter issue to me. I know after you disconnect the battery, the first time you try to start it, it will start for a second of two and then die. It will then start like normal on the next start. I have never had your issue but that seems like the starter is not engaging properly.

let the car prove out before cranking always.
it sounds like the relay dropped for a second mid crank. or maybe sticking.
let it power all the way up before starting.
your headlights and 27 computers starting at the same time are going to drop voltage.

I’m confused by your comment. Are you saying to hit the start button without hitting the brake pedal so that the accessories turn on and then hit the brake and start it??

That's the only potential thing , it cannot be something weird or more serious, I don't even offroad with it!

Thanks for the comment, though I don't think it has anything to do with this issue, I think it's perfectly fine to start it up immediately

I don't think it stutters

Actually I think it's perfectly fine, from its sound while trying to crank the engine at least

something is jamming, either plugs or fuel filter

BTW I forgot to mention, this issue does not occur on each startup, it happens randomly, I would say one time in every 3 startups

Does the engine run normally once it starts? Is the idle speed correct? If so I doubt it's spark plugs or fuel filter. Changing those won't hurt of course.

It sounds like the engine starts, the starter disengages for a fraction of a second, and then it engages again. A sticking solenoid would just not disengage or not engage in the first place.

If it runs and idles normally I think something is telling the ECU that the engine is not running so its trying to start it again. That would point to a sensor.

It indeed idles normally
Which makes my head spin, because you're right it wouldn't be spark plugs in that case.

It doesn't show any engine light though

These are "crank until start", correct? One push and release of the start button, and the starter will spin until it fires up?
