My gas guage is all fixed now. Here's how I fixed it:
I took the fuel pump out. Looked it over. Did not see anything unusual. So I tested the sending unit and it worked fine. The guage went up and down no problem. I said to my self that's strange. So I decided to put the whole thing back together and see what happens. So I did and lo and behold it works! I got a half a tank full. Very strange. I don't know why it did not work before. All I can think of is when I took a hit to the tank it messed up the float. And I kinda "reset" it, I guess. All I know is it works now. And I'm happy!:D

I took a hit to the gas tank in my wife's 80 last night and now the gas gauge is permanently stuck on 1/4 of a tank. I ordered and new sending unit, but now I'm tempted to just pull it, dink with it and re-install.

Since I haven't had to work on this part of the 80 yet...and haven't been able to score a FSM for cheap, can you point me in the right direction? Is there an 'access hatch' under the middle seats or do I have to drop the tank?

Thanks,

Dan
