Just sitting here looking at my Toyota fleet and wondering where to begin. The 08 Tacoma 51,000 miles the 92 80 has 162,000 (Arizona) and the 96 80 has 288,000 (Florida) no rust. That's important here in Ohio. The bottom line is I have an 8 month old son that needs to experience what the great western states have to offer. Oh and I also have a complete drivetrain from another 96 LC to use as back up. My goal is to have one rig that we can use as the ultimate father and son vehicle. Where to begin????

Rebuild the entire '96 drivetrain and swap it into the the 96, sell the '92 to help offset some of the costs, keep the other '96 drivetrain, you and the son can rebuild it when he gets older as bonding time and have it ready to go in the '96 about the time he is ready to start driving it and keep the truck as a daily.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. That's the route I am leaning towards. I have every thing except for the frame and body shell from the other 96 including locking axles. That one fell victim to the Ohio road salt. I just don't trust the drivetrain with 288,000 miles however it is still running great!! I love my 92 as well and afraid to part with her. Slow yet reliable. I have a couple years to get one done and the older they get the more valuable it will be.
