This is our first fj40 build, let me know what you think. So it begins...

This is when we first got it in, I traded my 98 4 runner for it, tho it might seem like I took 3 steps backwards, it ended up being a great learning experience. As you can tell the PO had no respect for the 40 what so ever. It rolled in to the shop with a half ass spring over set up. Take a look at the shock mounts on the axle, he welded some flat stock to them instead of getting the right length shocks. The front caster angle was way off, it drove like a 3 wheeled sh*t wagon. The ignition... well i had to use my pocket knife to start it. The wiring was Micky mouse to say the least, a serious fire hazard. to be continued ...

How come every asshat-PO modded FJ40 has the surplus sewer pipe front bumper? I swear there's a convention or something where the brain trust exchanges these dumbass ideas.

Good decision

Dear Sir,

I am agree with you, trade 98 4 runner with Toyota Landcruiser 40 series is not a wrong decision.

Perhaps, after you completed the build...you might want to add another 40 series for sure.

Enjoy your progress.....

GOOD LUCK. :beer::beer::beer:

I'm going to try and post the build in the order we did it but it might not be perfect. after removing the tub, we got to inspect the frame a little bit better than before. We discovered it was going to need some work... good excuse to buy a welder....

as for the 2F , it ran pretty good, it drove in to the shop under its own power just fine.

the cowling was in pretty rough shape, the only item on the rolling chassis i intend on keeping was the frame and some mounts, we kept that axles and some basic running gear on there to make it easier to move. After sand blasting the frame was repaired as well as the cowling.
