well i just purchased my first FJ40. I'm psyched. But I can't stop looking around at more FJ's and wondering if i made a good decision. So i'd like to get the opinion of you all. It's a rust free machine. Has cosmetic upgrades and the only mechanical upgrade is flowmaster exhaust. New bestop bikini and a 20 gal auxillary tank. Can go 600 miles on one fill up! So thats it. Any ?'s fire away. I'm looking forward to hangin here and gaining some knowledge. I don't know much about the FJ's. I took an expedition tour on the baches of the outerbanks in N.C. My ride was a 79' Cruiser. I loved it so much that 6 weeks later i bought one.

Sweet rig, color is interesting.

Finding a rust free machine is tough outside of the Southwest.

Not to mention, it is an '82, very nice.

Welcome aboard.

:flipoff2:

Looks like you found a good one... Welcome !!!

It's "john Deere Green" I was told that it was an original color 82" boy i hope so.

It may be.

I am not familiar with '82 rigs, you don't see many around these here parts.

I am sure there is an aficionado on here who can tell you.

Still, it looks good.

If you don't mind me asking, what did it run you?

16K i'm cringing as i write that. like i said,,,,,i'm learning along the way. and compared to some of the crazy restoration joints that i found asking high 20's into the 30's it just seemed to make sense.

I think you got a great rig for a reasonable about of $! awesome color too.

welcome to the addiction:flipoff2:

Very nice. That's a beauty.

Might want to flip those shackles around. ;)

LMAO to the flipper comment. Exuse me for not knowing but are shackles? when i said i came here to learn i was not joking.
And i'm looking forward to the addiction.

Very Nice! Some engine bay shots if you don't mind please. Is the tub original and rustfree? If so, someone kept this one out of the salt or it did not live on the East Coast very long.
Truck is from southwest texas. I bought it from the second owner. But only titled once. The second owner never titled it. He used it on his ranch.

:flipoff2: , and thats all i got to say about that. oh nice rig, but doesnt she have a mild lift as well? Those are some nice tour cruisers they got there at OBX arent they? I think the blue one was an 80's model.
OBX 023 (Medium).webp

DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That bluye one is the reason i'm here and the reason i bought a Cruiser. I was looking at that pic and saying to myself. "Self, something looks awfully familiar..... Crazy bro,,thats the outfitter that i was talkin about. You've obviously been there. What did you think?

Nice FJ!!!! I live in NC, Morehead City and you dont see em down this way like that. What did the expedition in OBX have for a FJ40?

Post # 14 shows the actual FJ's used on the expedition. I drove the blue one in the back. They aren't perfect, but at the same time it seems perfect if you know what i mean. they are on the northern tip of the OBX in Corolla.

Man thats a sweet 40, great find!
