My BudBuilt Sliders are on!

@Obi Wong Kenobi Man your truck looks great!
I like the style you selected as well. I was a little concerned about the angle of the sliders making them unusable as steps (I also have two kids), but they work fine and the kickout really makes for a nice large platform. I'm going to add some non skid tape to some sections just to keep things safer...

Just to add to this thread, I got my Bud steps on. I took a different approach compared to @Taco2Cruiser and @NLScooby with their angled sliders. For my needs, I’d rather have a step for little ones and my parents and I don’t plan to need the extra clearance for rock climbing. Thank you Rob for the instructions as the lollipops really had me scratching my head.

Are those the step sliders? What configuration did you get? Nice looking truck btw.

OWK - those look good, mind sharing what you paid?

Thanks

Heya. Standard price was $700 and then I added the fill plate and powder coating on top of that. Give Bud a call and you could customize it the way you want!

@Obi Wong Kenobi -

Those wheels look amazing on your *incredibly new-looking* rig!

I love the dark plates CA finally started offering again! :)

Thanks Mark! Love the black plates on black cars too. Slowly, I’ll get this rig ready to hang out with you guys on the trail. ;)

love a freshly washed black vehicle....so sharp looking

Thanks Willy! The sprinklers hit it the other day so I gotta work on some water spots before I’m happy though. Darn that hard water.

Thanks so much Rigger!

Thanks NLScooby! I think if I saw your truck beforehand, I would’ve gotten the angle instead of steps. But regardless, I really love the steps now that they’re on! They’re so nice, I don’t have to worry about people slipping off.

Thank you! They’re step sliders, no kick out, with a dimple down fill plate and powder coating.

My mechanic finished installing BudBuilt sliders on my 2013 LC yesterday.

Pros:

These things look bombproof.

Cons:

Install is not easy. My mechanic billed me for 5 hours of labor, but it took him longer than that.

They are heavy and add another 170 lbs to an already overweight rig.

As NLScooby mentioned, Bud is still working on installation instructions. I have to give a huge thanks to NLScooby for sending me his detailed notes on the install, complete with pictures — thanks, man, I’ll buy you a coffee at the 2018 LCDC.

5 hours? Yikes. My friend and I didn’t read the instructions beforehand and it took us 3 hours to install once I got Rob on the phone. I wish I did a video because the lollipops are the main confusion I think.

But I agree with the bulletproof part. It’s a most impressive piece!

Man - I am slow when it comes to working on vehicles....I know. But then I'm working solo and I get interrupted so often - AND then there is all the time I spend stringing together highly creative curse words. I'll bet I could shave a third of my time off if I would just keep my mouth shut! :smokin:

duplicate post....stupid slow (work) computer!

I took one look at the sliders, the lollipops, and the underside of my LC, and realized that if I tried to do the install myself, it would result in bashed knuckles, dropping the slider on my face, and probably the police stopping by to give me a ticket for disturbing the peace, due to my shouting of curse words. Which is why paid my mechanic to do the install.

If I had a lift and a transmission jack, I might have tried it.

Here is a crappy cell phone pic of the sliders on my LC. I choose the diamond plate cover and the kickout at the back. I had them powder coated locally.

How much do these sliders weigh? And does anyone know how much the slee ones weigh in comparison?

A lot. 85 lbs each. I don’t know how much the Slee sliders weigh, but I’m sure that Slee could tell you.

They have two types. The Ultimate slider is the heavier of the two. I don't know exact weights but I ordered the regular today. It is about $100 less and still super strong. The heavier ones are really hardcore. Just checkout Budbuilt.com. Nice people to deal with too!!!

I am now mulling over my under-armor. Will probably mix steel and aluminum to save some weight.

Ordered a set after reading and falling in love with Obi’s car! Thanks for all the info. Are the updates install instructions anywhere to be found on here?
