Doug, same tender issue for turning the lights on when connected to the tender. On off is in my future as well!

I had the same issue, and it is usually related to poor connection to the battery. I thought mine was solid, but it has to be a very clean connection. Since my results were not consistent they sent me another controller box with a blue cable for an ACC input, which would act as the on/off switch.
This essentially eliminates the current or voltage sensing option and hard wires it to an ACC input. Now it is 100% reliable.
Call Phillips support... they should take care of you.

Thanks. I'll give them a call.

Nice mod! Why is everyone's 80 so shiny and clean! :)

Haven't had any issues myself with the lights.

BTW, if anyone's interested still, I have another batch of these light brackets (still available on Ebay too). Thanks.

Agree with #4, bracket holes for lights are off by a few mm. Other than that, perfect fit. Installing them into my new cruisin offroad bumper.

Install mine yesterday .. got few comments .. ( IMHO comments )

1. As I'm slow worker it took me around 3 hours the complete installation.

2. Sawzal didn't work for me .. actually was a complete mess ( driver side ) and it maybe take me more time to fix it with my grinder .. so IMHO grinder ..

3. Dremel .. have one handy ..

4. DRL bolts on the bracket needs bit of modification ( are bit out ) 5 minutes with Dremel with solve that.

5. As I'm kinda purist .. had to buy 12mm or 14mm nuts and will do the same for bolts .. I like to keep everything metrical in my Cruisers ..

6. You have to cut all bend lib on your ARB I din't and was huge pita later to fit all nuts .. will take off my bracket to fix that later on .. ( again IMHO not an optional step ).

We have required DRL's for years in Canada. It looks out of place not having them. Cars just run the headlights all the time typically though, except for the cool cars as you say. When I brought my 97' 80 series back in 2007 I had to convert the main beams to DRL's before I could get it legal for the road.

I believe that's only for vehicles built post 1990. Mine is a 91 model built in 1990 so I'm exempt but I'm putting them in anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. This was changed (fixed) with the second batch of brackets that I had made. Enjoy!

do you have any of these brackets left? I just pulled my arb to repowdercoat it, would like to cut it for these before I take it to the powder shop.
don't know if I searched ebay right, but didn't turn them up.

thanks

Johnny Lange. Long time my friend. We met up in Moab years ago. You brought me a throw out bearing arm from SLC toyota and saved the vacation.

Got another batch of these brackets ready to go if anyone is interested! :)

Mind me asking again since i'm in real time here...

How are you all wiring them up? Just like the instructions show? Anyone still having issues with battery draw when the truck is off?

I was going to wire them in with an on/off switch, but it's not working out like i thought. No matter which position the switch is in, the lights come on.

Basically, i took the +/- cable coming out of the "box" and "T'ed into it and ran that to the on/off switch. Shouldn't that work? Wonder why even with the switch in the off position when i hook the +/- to the battery the lights come on?

Fyi ARB is now including LED lights with all bumpers and yes according to them it will retro to older bumpers.

I haven't ordered my lights yet, but where you "T"ed into the +/- cable ? did you run that to 12V also? probably should run that cable to a relay, then the relay to the battery 12v, and your on-off switch should just turn on the relay?...im just guessing cause I don't have mine yet but.....

when I'm charging my batteries just unplug the LED fuse .. on my fuse box ..
Exactly. FWIW, I keep mine on a Battery Tender Jr and never have this issue with the LEDs coming on....
