Decided to change up the front of the 79.....I'm torn. I think I like it but I think it's a little broyota. It's cleaner than the old grill for sure and it looks pretty cool....can't say I'm sad to see the old logo go. I'll run it for a while and hopefully learn to love it.

Ordered this guy straight from the mother land!

@bjowett.....you know you're the reason I bought this, right?? Ha. Thanks for that Impex Japan link.....easy place to buy from.

I should have bought the China one but that didn't go over well on here when I mentioned it. Ha. Looks identical and it was way less. Fortunately I didn't pay anywhere close to $700.

I'm warming up to the look.....it's cool. Looks like it's a natural evolution of what should have been on the truck from the get go. My brain is wired for the old one though. It looks less aftermarket to me. More utility. Kind of goes with the truck.

Dog approved.

I dig that it says Toyota but indeed agree with your old post saying the all black looked more utility... what about getting rid of the chrome and painting it black? so a mix between the two..

Thanks @beno.

@60toyetero......I originally figured I would do the chrome in a satin black. I'm not a chrome guy at all. But I'm afraid the black out will really look BRO. My tech and I were talking about it today(he LOVES the new grille) and he seemed to think that the chrome really makes it look OEM. I tend to agree. And there's a few bits of chrome on the truck. So I think for now I will leave it. I might try a half assed attempt at vinyl wrapping it to see if I like the look...black may look really cool.

I will say that the front of the truck is VERY flat looking now and much more squared off. Totally different. The old one was pretty vague....the grille got lost. This one is much more pronounced.....focuses the attention solely on it.

Chrome looks awesome. Here is black. I see other small chrome parts on the rig bring it all together leaving it chrome hands down.

Agreed on the chrome. I think it's more OEM looking and less bro. I really like it. Plus, it will help keep my 79 unique since there so many 79s where I am. Ha.

Wouldn't have an issue with either one. The one that says "Toyota" has more of a vintage look in my opinion.

Perhaps it's just my poor eyesight but I don't see enough chrome to even be an issue.

A medium metallic gray is another option in place of the chrome.

Medium grey is a bad ass color but it would add one more color into the truck....although I think the rear bumper is a dark metallic grey.

The chrome is really not too bad.....it will stay. My brain is wired to remove chrome......we get paid insane amounts of money to pull the chrome, paint it and reinstall, on new MBs.

40-ish pieces on this Maybach....some of them aren't really made to be taken apart after the factory installs them either. Fun times.

IMHO, round headlamps would complete the classic/retro look.
