My 78 Fj40- a few images (1 Viewer)

Here's a few images of my recent re-sprayed 78. It's running a stock 2f. Mods include OME springs, shocks and Conferr shackles and old school 1978 vintage Warn winch. 33x12.5 rubber all around. It lived a ruggd off-road life in the desert southwest of Zion, Utah for many years, but now that it's moved out to Santa Cruz and damn near retired, it gets to sit around looking pretty, shuttle the kids to soccer, and bring back groceries and hardware.

Got it. Didn't have television reception in the desert in 96, missed the commercial. As for the evil penguins, I think they got that idea from this scenario.

I did the respray with a Devilbiss HVLP gun, in the driveway, under a large tent. Did the prep, bodywork, shot the primer and final color. Spraying the spare tire carrier was a bear, as well as the big white roof panel. The web link in the first post shows some of the detail steps. Paint and related supplies were around $400 total. Of course I "needed" a new compressor midway.
