My list of things to do for now.

Get turn signals to work.
Install new LED tail lights. ( to get rid of the trailer lights in there now)
Get the wipers working. (It has aftermarket universal motors on it that do not work)
Find a rear view mirror!!. (Got one?)
Get some side mirrors that mount to the body not the doors.
Rebuild the carb.
Fix gas gauge.

That's for now. I'm sure it's going to be a never ending list. But it gives me something to do!

Curious if you have installed a caster shim between the front leaf springs and the axle housing?

If no, how much time have you driven this truck on the road since installing these lift springs and now the longer shackles?

Yes I did install the shims on the front springs. Thick side to the front.

Only drove it a few miles so far. Not nearly as bumpy as before. I'm very happy with the ride. Steering...it's hard to say. Lots of play in the wheel. Seems to track ok. More time will tell.

The front shackles do look a bit to long to me. But It sits level and I like the stance.

I just ordered some 33x10.50x15 BFG KM2's today. Can't wait to get them on. I will post up some pics when I do. I will then reevaluate my shackles.

Today I also took apart my ds wiper motor an found a broken wire. I soldered it back on and it works now!

Your cruiser looks great. How hard was it to get the shims in when doing springs?

Super easy. The springs where off so first use a C clamp to hold the spring pack together. Then unscrew and take out the leaf spring center bolt, put the shim in and tighten the bolt back up. Remove the C clamp and your done!

I'm hoping so. The BFG 33x10.50x15 KM2 seemed to be the best fit (size and looks) for my 40
I can't wait to get them on tomorrow

What size are you running on there now? Just trying to decide what I want to do. I'm worried that the 33s might be too much for my rig. I'm planning on keeping the stock drums all around. (Don't flame me, I've owned all-drum vehicles before!)

Right now it has 31x10.50x15's ok with my stock suspension. I did a ome 2.5" lift and have extended shackles. The 33's should clear just fine and look at home.

Thanks for this thread:)

Just joined as I found a '64 sitting out in the CO high country woods. I wondered if the basic seals might be gone on that F135 engine and trans, and you getting yours to run after 10 years outdoors sounds good. I have been going through Destin's 1964 FJ40 FSR rebuild thread- major helpful as everything here at Mud seems to be.

Can't wait to see/hear more as you move forward!:bounce:

Thanks! Welcome and Good luck with your project! Feel free to ask any question you have. This is a great place for help with your 40

Here is a link to my lift install. I should have started it all on this thread but it just started to snowball and became its own.

Took it out for a short ride to test out the new tires. It was cold but fun! The tires are not nearly as loud as I thought they would be.

Tonight I fired up the heater in the garage and played with the land cruiser. I made some brackets to hold the LED tail lights I bought. First out of cardboard, then thin sheet metal with some snips. To get the center hole diameter the right size so the light would pop into the rubber holder. Finally I used the plasma cutter to cut them out of some galvanized plate I had laying around. Got as far as painting them. I will post some more pictures once they are all installed.

I have not figured out that light yet. It does not come on when in reverse. I'm not sure if a 65 had a back up light switch?

Not supposed to and mine doesn't. Just wondered if a PO had added it to yours. It must be on a separate switch.

Cruiser is looking sweet Ben.I will get the fenders to you soon but I'm not sure they are any better than the ones you have now.Nice work:)
