This is not mine.

I ran across this while attending a 4wd event in the central valley of California.

He found it in a barn in Wyoming or Washington. (One of those "W" state up by Canada.)

He did a frame off restofication and worked closely with Marv at Spector Off Road.

He still has the factory rims and hubcaps.

Pictures do not do it justice.

Also, do you know what the 3rd lever is for? Overdrive?

It's been a LONG time, but IIRC, that's where the Fairey OD lever was on Ruftoys,... circa 1987.

I don't believe that is the right location for a Fairey Overdrive shifter. It was located further back. Around where the hand brake handle was located on the 79 and later 40 series. I to wondered what that shifter is for. Maybe has a PTO but not the winch. In is in the right location for a PTO shifter. Also curious why since it isn't using the dash hi/lo transfer case shifter didn't he remove it and fill the holes. Engine appears to be a F145 not a F155:hhmm:

Don't get me wrong it a beautiful truck just wonder why so many shifters.

Nice side armour. Protects the back of the box as well.

His rear bumper looks too close to the valance. Mine is like that and it is difficult to get the rod in between them to winch down the spare tire. I will be lifting the box by about 1/2" to solve this problem.

Maybe that's why his spare is in the box.

Is a PTO winch compatible with a Saginaw steering box?

I guess anything can be made to work but the simple answer is no. But the doesn't mean the PTO unit itself wouldn't fit, it will. Could of had a PTO winch and pulled it to install power steering:meh:

Without owner answering the questions about shifters or pictures of the underside it hard to say what is what.

US market only got the FJ45 thru 67. At that time the spare didn't use a winch setup. It had a funky spare setup that hinged in the front and lowered down in the back. It was made out of tubing with handles in the back. Not the best setup. On my 65 FJ45 I plan to use the winch setup. My back hurts from just the thought of lifting a spare up with the stock hanger.

That's just where my Fairey OD lever was on my 78 FJ55. Apples to oranges, I know.

I like everything except the steering wheel. Is it stock or aftmkt?

Here is a picture of a Fairey Overdrive shifter boot in the location it would be in. I still at least a half dozen Fairey shifter laying around for the one piece transfer case and it is above the transfer case not the transmission

Bought the Fairey new from Marv Spectre. I handed him the cash. I then drove the truck around the corner to his mechanic where the Fairey was installed. I was given several choices to make regarding the install. I don't remember everything I was asked to decide on that day. As I recall the shift levers for the trans, transfer, and OD were in approximately a straight line when all was said and done. Perhaps I'm remembering things incorrectly as this was many decades ago. Perhaps I ended up with some custom work. I'm sure someone will post something saying it's not possible for that to have happened. Whatever.

That's still a nice Pu even if the third shifter is inoperative.

Anything is possible. Th e LHD drive FJ25s have the 2WD/4WD shifer on the left side. Used a couple of rod to switch over to the left. On the RHD models the shifter was in the location it was for the transfer floor shift in the FJ40. I do now the stock set up on the Fairey Overdrive you had the option of the shifter on the right or left side of the transmission cover. It would be possible to use a PTO shifter and a few extra pieces of linkage and your set. Yhe sifter on this truck is not from a Fairey. It has a couple of curves and the knobis flat on the top.

Not sure the shifter is inoperative. Iit could be anything. Not sure if the Ranger Overdrive would work with the six cylinder or how it shifted. Stock PTO custom lever for a Ramsey PTO some kind of custom twin shift or eve a Fairey Overdrive. The only thing I know it is not in the either of the two stock locations for a Fairey Overdrive:cheers:
