How is the Lock n Roll lubricated? Does it rely on manual application of grease to the hardware or what ? What about the trailer tongue coupler? How does that get lubed?

The Treg has a zerk on the horizontal shaft, and the other shafts are non-lubed, unless you want to run a smear of grease. The poly block is non-rusting but the steel sleeves inside it need some care.

The Lock n Roll looks very stout but it sure looks like it will wear out and get sloppy (and noisy) after a few years. The Treg is tight and dead silent after 5 years.

Yeah the Treg looks like it holds up a long time . I'm sure AT could answer the question regarding its ability to hold up. How much is the Treg? It appears the only way to get one is to order from AU, is that the case? Manual lube,as its design
is very basic.

I think I paid about US$285 (!!!) five years ago, when I bought it here in the USA. I suspect the price today would be quite a bit higher, unless you wanted to combine shipping with another order - like a group buy. Here's the home page...

Martyn from Adventure Trailers here.

The Treg is a great coupler, we used to get them in from Australia but supply was a problem so we stopped importing.

The Lock-N-Roll (LNR) is a very good alternative, it's made in the USA, and is readily available.

The only lubrication the LNR needs is a shot of lithium grease on the moving parts on a semi regular basis. We haven't had a problem with them loosening up.

Two advantages the LNR has over the Treg is that it's all metal. The Poly block on the Treg is subject to degradation in the sun where as the LNR doesn't have this issue. If your running a Treg either remove it when not in use or cover it with a bag or cloth.

The Treg tends to bind as the two pivot points within the polyblock are right next to each other. If you look at the pictures of the LNR you will see that the pivot points are separated by a reasonable distance so binding isn't an issue.
