That's just your Toyos.

Or maybe it is the reality that Toyos are a bit more like an MTR and therefore a Southwest tire than they are a Northwest tire where mud to rock is a major part of wheeling.

I wouldn't buy Toyos for mud over even a baby Swamper like Trxus, it's pretty obvious why just looking at the tread design.

Same exact reason why the MTR has had a great following in the Southwest but is reviled in muddy places.

There's no magic here folks, even when you pay a huge premium for the letters T O Y O :flipoff2:

Agreed

WELL SAID

That's just your Toyos.

Not really. A lot of people around here have sold off their Toyos at around 50%... and went back to Interco!

Fact of the matter is, if someone wants mine, I'll sell them. I just am letting people know that I'm unhappy with them. If you want to blow that much cash for crappy tires because they are the "it" tire, go for it.... It's not my money!

That's what you get for thinking that a tire designed for pickup truck work sites was going to be good for hardcore Northwest wheeling :hillbilly:

Maybe the 15 year old Dunlop rolling bricks will be the next rage

After that we can all go back to BFG MT's and then marvel all over again at how great the BFG AT ko really is and wonder why we ever ran a MT in the first place :flipoff2:

I've seen the 35' Toyos on the 40 and 100 do just as well in deep mud and sand as the 37 swampers on the 94 PU  haven't witnessed them on the rocks but you have to drive 3 1/2hrs to see any.

There is a lot more going on there then the tire... If you like them, buy them. I never will again. And the only reason I'm running them now is because when I was getting married, my wife knew I wanted to step up to 315s. She read some review and bought the Toyos. They worked well as I was dding the 80, but they never where that great off road and the keep getting worse with age.

Again, but whatever you want. Just voicing my opinion.

Wait, Wait, Wait

Just One Second

Chad You Don't Like You Toyo's????????????

Ah Crap Now I'm Really Confused

i have the geolander MT's (315 75 r16 if i can remember correctly) on my ford truck, i really like them, i think they havent been given the credit they ought to get. they work well enough in the winter and better than decent off the beaten path. Having said that they are a little soft and wore a bit fast on the ford diesel (which will happen on a heavier vehicle) and also may be getting better traction on the winter due to weight. Actually they sink in the mud a bit much under the old anchor. I would run them on a 80 that is a DD and weeekend off roader for sure, as for the ford i think it would benefit more from a larger and wider and harder tire such as a 38" toyo MT.

Chad, I will trade you my my 5 37s with rims for your 35s with rims...you know the ones I am talking about. You know you want to.

Just to throw another option at you:

I was planning to buy the Toyo MTs a few weeks ago and couldn't find them anywhere.
So I ended up buying the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Radials. Just got back from Cruise Moab where the tires performed outstanding! These are a fairly new design, unlike the Dunlops and the regular BFG MTs (not the KM2s).

Very interesting. I was in Gilroy the other day and saw an Xterra with those on it.

Looked very good.

What did they set you back?

I wouldn't use a set of Mickey's unless they were given to me....................

Just personal bias, but they really come apart well.

Especially at road speed.

I want to hear from Dan on the Dunlop M/T as well.

My Uncle had some of these on his suburban and really liked them but he was not much of an off-road type of guy.

While we're waiting on CDan:

The Dunlop Mud Rover is a good tire. I have run several sets in the past and like them for all purpose use.

I just happened to find a similar tire (Remington Mud Brute) that I believe outperforms the Dunlop…and have been using them on my Full Size Bronco for many years.

Usually you can find the Remington for less money than the Dunlop….and IMO they are as good or better.

Or you could go really “Old School” and find some “Co-Op GripSpurs”. All the ranchers around here have run them for years. :D;) Just kidding.......

Those things are awesome. My bro had some of those on his old trooper. He really liked them but they are not too road friendly.

$227 each, here.

So I bought some crap tires? Sucks to be me, I guess. I did 85 mph with them back from Moab last week, and they managed to stay in one piece. Maybe I got lucky and bought a good set.
