Do you get a low pitched growl when you over 50 on the highway if your driving on mud tires, i got some goodyear stock size mud terrain tires and i do get this noise, anyone else? thanks

I get one at anything over 25 with my toyo open country mt's..... I belive its normal

I'm really happy with my MT Baja M/T's they are surprisingly quiet on the road. I have had the Baja Claws in the past and they were loud!! I wouldn't get on the highway they were so loud.
The sound is coming from each of the larger lugs on M/T's contacting the pavement.

I have the Dunlop Fierce Attitude MTs and they aren't bad at all. Certainly louder than ATs but I can have a cell phone conversation without a problem at 70 MPH.

They are soft, however. Sharp rocks seem to cut them pretty easily.

This is true thanks, But i only get the noise from the rear.

Honestly I think you would be surprised where the sound is actually coming from. It's hard to tell inside the cab windows down or not. And yep, just a M/T characteristic. I don't mind the drone and with windows up the cab is still pretty quiet. Just my .02.

Balance is critical with mud tires. If you only hear noise from the back tires, it might be worth looking into. But ya - as others have said - hum is typical of aggressive tires.

Then do a tire rotation to put those up front and see if the noise moves up front.

As others have said, mud tires tend to be noisier than street tires. Abnormal wear on MT type tires will make them more noisy.

I'm using BF Goodrich KM/2 tires because they're one of the quietest tread designs. But the key to keeping them happy is to rotate them frequently. I do a five-tire rotation every 4-5000 miles.
