I will be relocating back to NJ and then eventually East PA later this year so I figured I should introduce myself.
My name is Derek, I wheel a 1985 FJ60 that has a lot of modifications, but is still sporting the OE driveline with the 2F. I am currently running with the Rising Sun TLCA chapter in Colorado, but I started wheeling in coal country PA when I went to college in Willamsport. I've had my cruiser at both AOAA and Rausch before so I'm familiar with both parks, although my cruiser has been upgraded a lot since I was last at either park.
I've been in Colorado for just over 2 years now and have tried to get out every weekend I can as there are more trails to explore here than I can keep track of but going out with Rising Sun has certainly helped tremendously. I'm doing a 3 day trip this weekend on the New Mexico border and then a trail cleanup and wheeling day the following weekend so it's a busy season already. I'm looking forward to getting back home to the East and meeting more cruiser heads, last time I wheeled the east it was with Jeep guys, and let's just say I don't want to make that mistake again.

Here is my 60 from the last trail time I was out

Welcome back to the best pizza around. Running a 200 in NJ, though I get out to PA for wheeling, as NJ doesn't offer much. Will be headed to CO this summer for an LC event though. Look forward to seeing ya.
Definitely not just moving back for the pizza....
What event are you going to this summer out here?

Welcome back!

And while we're on the topic of wheeling in NJ, I want to organize a Trans NJ Trail trip with this group.

LCDC, a 200 based event. This year is based out of Ouray. Last year was Fort Collins, Breckenridge before that, it moves each year it seems. Good time though.

Ah ok, haven't heard of that one, Ouray is a beautiful area though. I'll be on the other side of the mountain in Telluride at the beginning of August and at Solid Axle Summit for one day. Not bringing the 60 to SAS unfortunately as my dad will be visiting from NJ, so we'll just be in my 2015 Tacoma.

Ha, our event is the 7/29‐8/1, though ill get to ouray like the 28th. When I saw SAS pop up I figured I'd see some other folks.

If you're referring to the TNJT, it's 99% blacktop. The remaining 1% are dirt roads suitable for any Volvo wagon.
Not really a "trail ride", but more of a road trip. It does go through parts of the Pine Barrens, but that's just nasty sand that I stay away from.
It does hit some scenic areas, for Jersey anyway. I've got the entire route saved in Google maps.

That's fine, you don't have to come. I would like to explore areas other than Rausch and AOAA.

I was relaying my experience with the route in case you were unfamiliar.
I mentioned the fact that I have the entire route saved in Google maps in the event that you wanted it. I would be happy to share it with you.
My point was that it's not a "trail ride" as one would be used to at AOAA or RC.
It was an informational post. There was no attitude intended.
We don't know each other. Let's not get off on the wrong foot.

Pine Barrens can be a good time. Also swallow an LC up pretty handily(avatar pic). Make sure you rinse off, spray down, clean up afterwards. I took a bunch of Pine Barrens mud and sand to Colorado a coupla years ago, and once at altitude and trail riding, got close to overheating. Ended up saved by a local Toyota dealer who was phenomenal. Either way, when you're done rinse up. And count me in.

After a long weekend of wheeling in the Flat Top Mountains of Colorado, I am on my way home with the 60 in tow! Can't wait to wheel the East again!
