Hi All

I've got a Warn M8274 that I want to mount on to the front of my 80. I'm removing the current Aluminium bar, bacause it sits too low. Any ideas or pictures of how to mount my winch and still get the best possible approach angle. I will be designing and building it myself, so I just need some ideas to get my mind going.

Thanx

A simple mount with front valance cleared to tuck the Superwinch Husky in tight....

Nice, but the M8274 is just a tad larger

It's not just a tad larger, (I know you were kidding).

The 8274 is my all time favorite winch for several reasons.

However, it does not really lend itself well to being fitted to an 80 series IMO.

The 8274 being an "upright" is not only 16" wide but is also about 15" tall and 10" deep.

The grill on your 80 is roughly 29" wide so the 8274 is going to block quite a bit of air flow from the radiator, AC condensor, and Trans. cooler.

To keep your approach angle decent your bumper would need to start at about the top of the stock unit. An 8274 would then stick up to the curved portion of your hood (pretty tall).

As much as I like that model for it's line speed, spool capacity "150 ft. of 5/16", toughness, and reliability.....I would at least consider another model for the reasons cited above.

No doubt, someone has one mounted on an 80 series and possibly it works O.K. for them.
Just my thoughts. Good luck.

The ARB "commercial" 80 series bar is set up to accept an 8274.

Nice, but.... :flipoff2:

The idea I was attempting to pass along is to find a way to recess it into the grill/valance area. The Husky is not a small low profile winch... over 9" deep, 9" tall, and 20" wide w/o the solenoid pack mounted on the end.

By cutting the valance I was able to move the winch up 2.5" and back about 4"... Mount it high and forward or start cutting.
