Can I mount a pair of 33x12.5 MTs on stock 92 alloy 15x7 wheels? No heavy wheeling involved A LOT of highway wheeling involved!

Depending on the actual section width, you might push the center of the tread up too much on a 7" wheel, thus wearing out the center of the tire before the outer lugs. You might want to look into the manufacturers recommendation. Most companies have a chart listed on their site.

I've been told that it will work "just fine"

I've been told that it will crown the tires (wear the center)

I suspect that the abnormal wear would show more on a highway rig and less on an offroad rig.

For me, it is almost a non-issue as tires here almost never survive long enough to actually wear away to nothing-- usually it is catastrophic failure from a hunk of rebar or a nasty root that kills them.

I dont care about the wear of the tires. They are Procomps I want to replace soon. I have cheesy chrome rims I want off my truck. I found a steal for 4 stock alloys and one steel wheel of $60. I want to go to 33x10.5 to help out the old 3FE. I figured this might be a cheap way to reduce some of the work on the engine in the mean time.

Thanks for the pic! Id be painting the wheels black just like yours. Did you just rattle can or do any prep?

I cleaned up the wheel face as much as possible with simple green. Scrubbed it with a scotchbrite pad. Primered and a few coats of flat black spray paint. Has held up really really well.

My plans were to go with a narrow 33x10.5 AT to maximize MPG. But Im wondering how much of a difference there a 33x10.5 AT would make compared to the 33x12.5 MTs on a 7" rim? If the difference was minimal I'd use the cash on a lift instead of tires.

if you have donor tires... do it. The only downside is tire wear (which you don't mind).

as for 10.50vs12.50: you'll save fuel w/ the 10.50 due to less wind and rolling resistance. But you might as well wear out the 12.50 first.

I've got the same setup as teejnut. 33x12.50x15's on a 15x7 wheel.
